Just in case you haven't seen it, apparently Modern Sonic is in the demo [hidden away, this is a hacked version of the demo]. And here's him in Classic Sonic's level.

Oh, and vice versa [Classic in Modern Sonic's level]:

Also, remember, this is hacked, I don't know if Sega will actually implement this officially.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

(I havnt played the demo myself) Which console versions does the game have lag / slowdown in? My guess is that Sega have zoomed in slightly to overcome technical issues, if so they would be better off just lowing the graphical detail, with the speed the game scrolls at, most ppl wouldnt notice anyway.

The 360 version has fairly responsive control and a locked frame-rate (30 fps). The PS3 version has noticeable input lag and a very unstable frame-rate.

The input lag on the PS3 version is ridiculous. It's a good half a second before he responds to the jump button.
To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.

Yeah ive always found it funny why most multiplats work better on the 360, I know both consoles suffer from a lack of RAM but the PS3 suffers from it the most from what I heard from other gamers.

Take a look at god or war 3, killzone 3, vanquish, ratchet and clank ect... it has more hoursepower (certainly not less) than a 360 by a long shot when actually developed for, just not when half assed ported by lazy or not that great at their jobs developers.

Let's leave the console flame wars buried with Ceph's banishment. I LOVE my PS3 AND my 360.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

You know I picked this game up this week and I have to say I really like it. Haters gonna hate but I really truely dig it.

I actually even enjoy the modern Sonic stages the most, but I am a sucker for a sensation of speed. All the throwbacks and music tracks are alot of fun for me, granted just a little nostalgia trip. But nothing wrong with that. I thought it was fun that they let you unlock music tracks then assign them and mix match them to any stage you like.

All in all I think it's the best 3D sonic made. And with old school sonic thrown in... it's nice to play a Sonic game where you can ONLY play as Sonic. I say good job Sega.

Can I ask you what system you got it for? Was it PS3 or Xbox 360 or something else? I bought this game early close to release despite playing the demo on the PS3 and hating it. The only reason why I did not enjoy the demo was because of the extremely low and inconsistent frame rate the game was playing at. I was hoping I would get over the frame rate issue and hope they improved on it when the final product had come out. Even after reading reviews that also mention these frame rate issues, I went ahead anyways.

I have no problems or issues with the game design. I absolutely loved most of the Sonic games but the only issue here is the poor frame rate that makes the entire game unplayable. When your struggling to see what is happening on screen and that causing you to die and just feel sick most of the time, really takes away from the whole experience.

If Sega took a bit of extra time to do a better job with the programming, the game would be much better.

I got it on PS3... would have loved 60 FPS. Quite the frame whore really.... but it didn't seem horrible, just a game at 30 FPS. Like Vanquish ect.

My only real complaint was sometimes on a few of the old school levels the frame rate would drop a bit but I only really noticed it in background.

To each his own.

Yhaa modern levels weren't bad at all due to you being able to see what was ahead of you most of the time.

Right now you can pick it up for as low as 19.99$ I believe and at that price you really can't complain much about anything. Same with Rayman Origins. That game is fantastic and an excellent example of how a classic game should be done.

I nabbed the PC version of Sonic Generations about a year ago for $10. It runs at a smooth 60 frames. The only issue with stuttering comes occasionally if there is water around. This is a known issue but Sega has no plans on fixing the bug. The PC version also doesn't have the original Sonic the Hedgehog to unlock.

That final boss fight is gutter trash.

What were you playing it on? PS3 also?

I don't know if there is truth to this, but I did read somewhere that if you had your PS3 set to 1080p the game would run in 1080p instead of 720p. I heard that it performed worse this way, if you set your PS3 to 720p the game would then run smoother.

But I can't confirm any of that at all.

Sonic Generations was the first game I purchased on release day and finished the same day. I had to play it in two sittings since my roommate came back and wanted to play his 360 copy on his TV, so I was forced to move the PS3. I really liked it until that piece of shit final boss fight.

I haven't finished it on the PC, but that water stuttering issue is a damn shame. Overall, I think it's an excellent game no matter which platform you choose.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

I played the Demo on my PS3 set to 720p and it was the same as when I played the full version at 1080p. But it wouldn't hurt to try it on the full version to see if the game played any smoother.

Thanks for suggesting it.
