I'm going to guess he's just reeling from the cost of it.

Isn't he the guy who made $20K from selling Aero Fighters 3, though?

I'm completely confused... did you get the new DDP Tonk?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

this was a busy week ... i'm not quite done with all this, though.

Image

got this pgm 200 r1 with scaler for free. somehow this one's actually got some minor burn-in, but it's only barely noticable. for now it's sitting ducks in a corner of my room until i've done some furniture rearrangements to make some space.

Image

pvm 2950. can't wait to get a sync stripper and play saturn on this.

Image

got a spare computer from my brother to use for low res gaming. i still need to do some fine-tuning to make it better work with the resolutions though. right now i'm not even sure if i can change it back from 240p without having to format the harddrive.
the eizo monitor i bought off of ebay shortly before i knew that i could get that pgm. it's junk. the whole screen is covered by some green glow and it won't display blacks at all. just green. at least it was cheap, though. i'm still mad the seller didn't mention this in the description.

For those who wander the arcade collecting scene, this came from the infamous Duke Of Lancaster ship raid (http://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/in ... pic=3346.0). Finished restoring it tonight, came out nicely for a machine that spent 25 years sat in a rotting steam liner.

There's more to this photo than meets the eye, isn't there?

Why is there so much plastic on it? It looks like it's taped down to the desk?

What's the significance of the Coke?

This isn't recent but I didn't realize how beautiful the ICO/SotC limited edition was until I started taking pictures of it.

Probably my last gaming purchase until after I get all grown up and buy a house:

Worth it for the soundtrack CD alone really. Although the Thunder Force IV homages in-game are pretty awesome, patricularly the section where you rock up through the atmosphere to a Metal Squad remix then face off against Rynex to the TFIV intro music :D

Uh... the track that plays when you go up to space is Steel of Destiny. It would be nice if it had a Metal Squad remix, though.

It's basically the same tune underneath it all, different name or not it holds a lot of similarities to Metal Squad and is a great homage.

Even though I have the PS1 Strider pack, every time I see the MD version I'm tempted to pick it up. It's such a showcase arcade port for the system, and the intense cover art is beautiful (especially if you grew up with the shitty US one like me!).

MD snapcases in general are pretty glorious... I miss the days of non-generic game packaging, even if jewel / DVD cases are more space-efficient.

Yeah, I own the PS1 Strider pack too, but in some ways the Mega Drive port actually plays better than the arcade original, so I felt like adding it to the collection.

Most of the other new MD games in that pile I got to please my bizarre lust for second rate sword-action platformers with fantasy settings. ;)

I'm happy to hear this, so many fond memories playing the MD version as a teen, trying it in MAME was disappointing to me. 8)

I love megadrive's strider too, then mountain run scene is still the best implemented in-game cutscene ever.
