Mystery music uploaded to youtube.

In retrospect I should have just turned off shot. Anyway, still no luck getting the music to turn up a second time.

That's actually the image song for the game. Odd that it started playing in stage 5 for some reason. Is there some kind of secret added that enables you to cause it to play? Maybe it's some kind of touch code in the stage select you happened to enter by accident.

Yeah that's what I suspect happened. Again, I was on the Stage Select screen for Maniac and picked a few different stages, then heard Reco's "iyaan" and the image song started playing as the stage background music.

Hmm, might be time to bug the Cave World twitter to get them to reveal the exact process for doing this. We know how to do this in DFK (pause the game, then shake the shit out of your device).

This one is the best iPad cave game yet I think. I got it the day it came out a few weeks ago and now ultra mode is actually conceivable with the easier control type (it's interesting to me how many people write off the iOS releases figuring the controls won't be good, and yet the controls are technically better than the originals, if not less challenging and satisfying on easier modes).

I had a hard time adapting to the esp2 controls on iOS because of the complicated button combinations but with bp2 it was a far more fluid transition given the simpler button controls to begin with.

And yeah, I still don't know what this wait control business is about. Any ideas?

Ok so I just got an Iphone, and this was my first purchase.

First, a grievance. Not at Cave, but at this "Openfeint" bullshit. Like an idiot, I pressed "Allow" when the bubble popped up, and now, there is this intrusive Advertising at the top of the title screen! What the fuck? No, I don't want the open feint app. No, I don't want Bug Panic. WTF? I tried disabling open feint from the menu, I even deleted my account and reinstalled the game and it's still there!

Thankfully on all my other Cave purchases I pressed "Don't allow", and there is no advertising on the title screen. Phew. But it's still on Bug Princess 2 :(. HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?

Also I think openfeint took over my achievements. Because when I go to Gamecenter and disable notifications, I still get these ugly red "thumbs up" icons every second for achievements I get. These can't be gamecenter or the games, because I've disabled them. This happens on EVERY game whether I've allowed openfeint or not.

Sorry for that rant. I do want to say, it is fucking awesome having my Cave shmups on the go. And I really enjoy these ports, especially the HD ones (I DoDonPachi Ressurection and ESP GAluda 2. The other games don't have HD or am I missing something? Anyways...). IT's fucking awesome so far.

And I didn't know what to expect from the controls, but my GOD, the control is TOO GOOD. IT MAKES THE GAMES TOO EASY LOL. I mean, I kind of enjoy this actually. For a casual, fun, easy experience that is very relaxing and stress free, you can't beat these iPhone ports. And hell if I want my hardcore Cave action the way it's meant to be played, I always have my Xbox 360. And you can still train and learn patterns on the iphone it's just, well, hella easy to literally destroy these games.

Which leaves me with one suggestion Cave: Where is the Black Label and God Modes for these ports? I mean shit on 360 I can't even touch these modes but I'd welcome them on iPhone since the gameplay is so damn easy.

Good to see CAVE still calls it Mushihimesama Hutari instead of Futari :-)

Is it just me that can't use the Cave iOS touch screen control crap? It seems to me that if you hold the unit (iPad 3) in your hands your left thumb cannot make the ship move far enough across the screen in one go, so you end up shuffling, like using a mouse. But if you don't hold the iPad you have to point at the screen which is just stupid.

Or have they sorted that out for Bug Princess 2?

Maybe it's just me but I wish Cave would make a joystick for iOS!

Cheers

I use a good capacitive stylus, just lay the iPad down somewhere. Works real well.

I never found thumb control in the iOS ports very reliable, neither on the iPad nor on my iPod Touch. Especially on the iPad using large, sweeping motions with your whole arm feels very good to me, especially with a useable stylus. Sure, it isn´t comparable with digital control in any way, but man, I just enjoy it a lot, Mushi is the perfect game for that. In DDP DOJ on iOS, for instance, touch control always felt foreign and weird to me for some reason. I would love iCade implementation.

Black Label is an absolute instabuy for me, Futari on iPad was the most fun I've ever had with th iOS ports, and the new boss rush with Mushi 1 seals the deal. Glad they put out versions like these.

DDP DFK BL would be even more awesome!

Oh well. Take my wallet, CAVE, you know I can´t say no to a boss rush

I bet that´s the pay-to-unlock part. Though I don´t really mind throwing a few more bucks in CAVEs direction - makes me feel a bit better to have played all their great games in MAME all these years.

Okay, so we've got to shell out for an upgraded version of the game we just bought a couple months ago, AND they want to charge extra for the Boss-Rush mode?

Disappointing. I think this Black Label release should have come later, but the boss russ mode guarantees I'll buy it.

I got the feeling that the boss rush modes would be updates to Mushi and Mushi Futari, but the "items" you can purchase to upgrade your character in boss rush and in arcade would be the pay-to-unlock, similar to DOJ on iOS. I'd be surprised if they charged for the boss rush as it's such an easy tweak.

Did anyone else notice that they mention "2 courses" in the announcement trailer. I wonder what that's referring to. Whatevs, I've been getting quite a bit of mileage out of Mushi and Mushi Futari on iPad so I'm down to continue to support their releases on mobile devices.

I haven't bought this yet since I have the console version and there's no special arrange mode or anything to set the mobile version apart, but the ability to fight the bosses from Mushi in the Futari engine is sort of intriguing. I may get it if the price ends up being reasonable.

That's a Cave thing, not an OpenFeint thing. OpenFeint's achievement notifications aren't used by the Cave games since Cave does it themselves.

This one:
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/review ... le-alupen/

I initially bought it in the vague hope of being able to draw with it on the iPad, but it still kinda sucks. It´s better than finger painting, sure, but it´s still not nearly as precise as a Wacom.

I use it now almost exclusively for the CAVE ports and it works quite well for that! As a cheaper alternative, the new "Amazon Basics" stylus is supposed to be quite nice, too.

Is there any way of figuring out when Black Label might be released? I'm dying to get that game on my iPhone/iPad. Of all the Cave iOS releases, I think Futari works the best with touch controls, just flows really well. The milking/shedding in black label should be super fun on iOS.

I think in the past Cave has released their iOS ports pretty soon after the announcement trailer, haven't they? Hopefully it's not still months away.

Yes I finally registered to make this post. /shame

On the Cave World blog it says 23rd June. Which is a Saturday... I thought iOS games were released at about 04.00 GMT on a Friday morning? It's not on the app store yet. Hoping the only pre-requisite for getting the boss rush mode is having Bug Princess 1 installed.

Also, the site says this about the boss rush mode:
* Boss Rush can be played once a day if you have Bug Princess or Bug Princess 2 installed on your device. It can be played unlimitedly
The misspelling is theirs, not mine, in true Cave stile!

The price is listed at $13.99 US. From twitter, this isn't HD either.

Fucking hell. Compared to BP2, this is crazy expensive... Is it because they know no one's going to buy it, so Cave might as well slap a big, fuck off price-tag on it? I know there's the notion that it's obviously a lot cheaper than getting the port/PCB, but this is way more expensive than other Cave iOS releases... Maybe there'll be an introductory discount thing like they usually do?

So on twitter they told me it wasn't HD, but now the page says that BP2BL is a universal app and that the graphics are not downgraded for the ipad? So it may be higher resolution, just not retina or true HD.

Wow, so it's out tomorrow? That just made my weekend.

I know a lot of people are unhappy about it not being an upgrade for the existing BP2, but this is probably my favorite Cave game and I have no problem supporting them here. I expect some will be unhappy with a $14 Black Label mode. That's about what they charged for the 360 DLC.

I will gladly spend that money because unlike 98% of iOS games (and most modern games in general) I know this will be not only worth my money, but also worth my time.
