I won't deny that the music SOUNDS awesome but fits poorly on a game like Dodonpachi... not to menton that it lacks power...dunno what to say here... maybe "feeling" would be the word.

Like listening to a good rock song / dance tune while driving down a motorway is a good way to get a speeding ticket? SDOJ's soundtrack doesnt affect you in the same way?

Wonder when they'll port it to a console like the XBOX 360. Heck, wonder when they'll have a US port of it as well as Daifukkatsu.

They'll probably need a new storyline to go along with the certain-to-be-included arrange versions on the x360 port. I think the big question CAVE have at the moment is ... Who's going to write the script for these?

I really doubt the story is the first consideration for most any arrange mode. ;) First let's see if they bother porting it to the 360 at all, considering the sort of talk they were disseminating regarding Mushi HD possibly being their last effort on the system...

Hehe Ild imagine the console version will be like DFK but in reverse (considerding DFK arrange were DOJ-like, Rock hard white label with arrange mode with cancelling and auto bombs, loli transforming bosses. I wonder what they'll do with BL?

Compared to other Manabu Namiki's soundtracks like Mushi/Futari, Espgaluda II, DOJ... Well it's kind of meh this soundtrack. It has good moments but it won' dig a hole in my heart.

No extends at all; no rank decrease on death or bomb/autobomb; shit-ton more bullets everywhere; lolis; more squeaking on graze, death and hyper-up; color palette changed to bright, fluffy neon colors; happy j-pop soundtrack.
Oh, wait… they kind of did that already…

If you look at who I was replying to and his post history it will make more sense. I guess it was an inside joke for folks who spend wayyy too much time here.

Makes me think that the MMP/PS DLC mode would be cool with SDOJ, Ie DOJ/ DFK player ships and bosses

So it sounds like general consensus is that the game is really fun, with fair, balanced scoring mechanics.

Basically trying to decide if the gameplay/fun factor outweighs my dislike of the character designs. I don't really like that they've fully embraced the moe fetish exploitation strategy for character development. The designs feel contrary to the setting. I suppose the characters ultimately don't matter in a shooting game, but it's hard to ignore them entirely in this case because they talk. A LOT.

The announcer's "talkiness" is a little irritating to me, too.

Do you guys think we will ever see this on consoles? Or will it only end up on smartphones outside the arcades? I'm not in the position to drop $3000 on a single game right now.

Is there any chance that Cave could put it out on the PS3, if the 360 is doing poorly in Japan?

It seems likely; I don't think they have declined to port any of their major releases in recent memory. 360 seems the most likely given that Fukkatsu is already on the console. This is just speculation, though.

But I heard they said there's no point anymore in restricting their games to a particular console. The PS3 would probably be fair game at this point. We already have Under Defeat on the PS3.

My biggest concern is that it will only be on smartphones. Or even worse, they could treat the game like how SNK treated Samurai Shodown V Special, which was never ported as a token of respect to the Neo collector's market, since it was the last official Neo-Geo game. Assuming SDOJ is their final arcade shooter, Cave could hold off from porting it so arcades and collectors would continue to have something truly exclusive and valuable. It would be a huge parting thank-you to their arcade division's biggest supporters.

There's been zero indication of this being Cave's last shooter, but solid information that this is the last in the Donpachi series. Under Defeat/Mamoru coming to PS3 was done by G.rev, and apparently it didn't make a scrap of difference.

They're not exactly going to say "hey, it's being ported" after having just released it in arcades. I think you know why.

It takes a ton of effort to port to new platforms. It's not in Cave's best interest to do so.

Most of the people in Japan who care about shooters already own a 360, so the 360's current sales are irrelevant.

That said, Cave has stated that Mushihime-sama HD is going to be their last 360 port. Since SDOJ has just barely been released, any port is going to be about a year away at the earliest. Unless Cave goes back on their word, the most likely consoles where a port will end up are the Wii U and PS4 (assuming the latest rumors about the latter are true).

I'm not a huge fan of the wording, particularly the "just for Dodonpachi Saidaioujou and future Cave games" part.
1) It discounts the value of SDOJ in particular, which I so far feel to be a potential killer app for me; some other players share the thought. It's not often to see Cave do pretty much all gameplay aspects right.
2) It denies the possibility that future Cave games will utilize more processing power, such as in the case of having been made for more powerful arcade hardware than the current SH3. Akai Katana Shin puts a decent pressure on X360; had it been like that from the start it would have required even more juice. Making cross-platform titles without serious optimization will introduce further processing overhead that would have to be satisfied somehow.

Are you kidding, that's the best part! We like SDOJ and all...just not that much.

Fu, with that silver tongue of yours, I'm sure SDOJ's will be on everyone's doorstep in no time.

I'm looking forward to the next strategy that gets cooked up. Maybe a brick with a note tied to it? Or a singing telegram?

I didn't pull a gun to your temple to sign it.
Also moozooh you can suggest something better and we can come out with a better idea. This one worked well on the french board.
