Kingdoms of Amalur
Kingdoms of Amalur
I heard this game was pretty good, for all its ambition. Though, my Gamestop service representative also said it was rather easy. Has anyone here given it a go?

Don't believe anything that comes out of a Gamestop clerk's mouth. Usually they have no idea what they are talking about =P. If you want to make an informed opinion, go on to youtube, watch some game footage from the beginning of the game, and decide for yourself if it looks appealing.

You listen to what a gamestop cash register jockey has to say about anything?!

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur
Basically, I just want to know if the entire game is a cakewalk. My #1 concern for any RPG is whether it's difficult. Gamestop folks tend to overvalue things rather than the opposite, which is why I'm given pause.xbl0x180 wrote:You listen to what a gamestop cash register jockey has to say about anything?!
And no, I didn't intend for this to be a referendum on the corporate culture or integrity of Gamestop employees.

If you want a hard RPG, try playing Yggdra Union without losing any morale

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur
I would wait for the price to drop some more or for a difficulty patch. I spent about 30-40 hours in the first couple major areas completing every sidequest, leaving no stone unturned, etc. and it got pretty boring. I ended up getting sick of it at that point and proceeded to rush through the rest of the game's main quest in about 10 hours. I played on Hard the entire time and there were only a couple fights that presented anything resembling a challenge even though I was playing as a Universalist, which is gimp as fuck compared to other "classes" at any level under about 32. The mechanics of combat are really fun, but when the enemies are so easy and the sidequests are just SO REPETITIVE, I just fell out of love with it fairly quickly. The fact that people had to do things like "No Blacksmithing, No Sagecraft, No Healing Potions" just to make the game even a little challenging should tell you everything you need to know.Moniker wrote:Basically, I just want to know if the entire game is a cakewalk. Dragon's Dogma should be out soon and it looks promising despite the piss-easy demo (I keep hearing it's the E3 floor build which was intentionally made to be easier than the main game). Maybe wait a bit to see if it'll actually be difficult at release?

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur
I found the demo boring but technically nice.
I don't think I would want to walk around that world for 10+ hours.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Thanks to all for the DL. Will probably get Witcher 2 instead, once its price comes down.

Re: Kingdoms of Amalur
The price on this game is still around £35 in the UK, im waiting until I can bag it for £20- £25, BTW I know ppl avoid EA games due to moral reasons, since the PC version is dual published between EA and 38 Studios, they can buy the Steam version and still be free of EA.
The PC version is alot cheaper btw (would buy it but I need a new GFX card to run it native res on my LCD monitor.)
