It's been a mean, mad stretch putting this...and I DO mean "mother"...out.
I'm not here to lament the toughness of it all...
I'm here to praise teh DOCTOR for his skill and patience...yes, I've had a couple...
The man went all night at the studio one night while my sorry ass was passed out -- and then he was racked w/ headaches for a week. No doubt from the strain of laying down a couple of lines on "Scenes of Painted Sorrow" that could make Scarface gag...
The end result is beyond explanation. Fuckin' "F Flight"?!? Fuckin' "Ride the Boss"?!? Fucking..."Violent Reprieve"?!? Are you kidding me? There's me tootin' my drunk horn on "baby friday" folks...sorry.
Dedicating an album to someone is a ridiculous thing to do. But, if I had to dedicate (that is to say if I thought it was within my own authority to...) this album to anyone...It'd be TWITCH.
The man is a burning ray of guitar shredosity and YOU, the reader, would be best suited holding him in your hand.
Vodkatron - Ride the Boss...
Total mock soundtrack madness for your derierre...
So, much for not spamming...

As cool as the building was, it was eating away at James' sanity and he had to get out...NTM the owner was selling it.
But,the new space is much more serene and we like it there. The creativity doesn't come out of nowhere like the old place. You kind of have to go in with some ideas. But, that's my favorite way to work, anyway.
Incidentally the remix of Violent Reprieve is one of five remixes on the bonus CD and it is...
...
Thanks, VR is one of the first four compositions along w/ Desperation Cruise Option (which made it into Meteor Blaster DX...*toot* *toot*), Doom of Mechanism, and Itchy Firestick. We cut it way back in 2003 when James had his first studio here after moving back from Chicago. This perfectly-sized building sits right on the edge of downtown CC. Sort of up on a hill. We later discovered a hole underneath the refridgerator which led to a large cement cystern that started 3 feet below the surface; it was about 20 feet deep and about 15 feet in diameter across. We went down in it a couple of times, but we never got to do any recording in it like we had hoped. The acoustics were disorientating to say the least. You had to be lowered down in and out with a rope harness.Listened to violent reprieve, think it would go well with stage 1 DDP
Like the fast guitar at 2:30

Chalk one up for Redfish Raymond!
I need to add the "alpha" versions of that (and F Flight) to the site somewhere -- just great, great stuff! Hilarious really.
They started out with "keyboard drums" mostly impromptu and kind of "tribal" sounding. 'Corridor was the one that we forced Raymond to drum over as opposed to "re-do" cause we couldn't bear the thought of losing those incredible keyboard "voice" sounds that we flicked off the Korg Triton. He mantained a laughable insolence throughout the entire ordeal. It must've been a tougher job than I had appraised.
Side note: I actually WON the Piccolo snare we used for the track earlier that week in a random drawing at a local mom/pop music store!
About "Mythology" - if you can believe it, the man who concocted that crazy mini-CD actually scrawled all that text! Craig McGonnagill - he also did our SFX...the most available example of his talents is ATACTIC - "Time Based Space". You can find it at www.twintriangle.com.
"Experimental Dub" would be the closest explanation...
Thanks again for holding out, Sly!!!
