To be honest i wasn't too confident about this game but after watching all the streams and videos i have to say i find the bullet patterns to be quite original, They don't seem like DDP or DOJ patterns, But they still use the big blue bullets from these, i found that pretty neat.

The soundtrack is pretty good despite the boss theme being pretty "different".

And i suppose i don't really care about the Tsundere pilots since it might even be helping cave to sell more merchandise because i assume this is easier to sell

So how does Hyper Rank work? In the 1cc vid the player uses a LVL 8 hyper and gets 6 hyper rank, so it's not 1-to-1 correspondence.

Is saving up for higher-level hypers better than hypering all the time?

God, so many questions.

I don't think that final boss is Hibachi, it just seemed like the standard giant bee last boss to me. I'd assume that Hibachi will only appear when you're using the Expert doll.

But yeah, the game looks excellent.

Just watched the A-S 1CC and I'm very happy with everything cave has done this time around!
The honeycomb background at the end there looks incredible :)

One thing I miss a lot from DDP/DOJ is being able to laser bomb, was bummed DFK took it out, and it doesn't look like they've returned (I could be mistaken..)

Great video. Game looks brilliant, and the last boss patterns are especially gorgeous. I can't imagine what it looks like on Expert.

I wonder if the hypers stop stacking after 9 or something (it has two digits though...). I'm hoping for a future superplay where the player saves up from the start, then opens up on stage 5 with a level 35 hyper or something.

Stage 5 boss is Kouryuu. I'm not sure what the 2nd form is called, but it's definitely not Hibachi.

If there is no loop I'm a little disappointed as Expert seems more in line with Futari God and DFK BL Strong than Futari Ultra.

Also 26 minutes seems kinda short for an entire ddp game (not considering black label)

The first loop of DFK 1.5 can be cleared in about 23 minutes, DOJBL around 20 minutes, and DDP around 24 minutes.

It's only short if you're comparing two loops of one of those games to SDOJ.

How big hitboxes are we talking? Larger than average DDP hitbox sizes?

Indeed. The first two stages doesn't seem to hold a candle to Stage 2-1 and 2-2 in DOJBL which is highly problematic if there are no loops.

Not saying that it needs to be as hard as Futari Ultra but it should certainly be up there with DOJBL's 2nd loop at the very least. What's the point with making a sequel to an STG if you are gonna make it easier?

While the mere thought of a second loop gives me orgasm, I honestly cannot begin to imagine how it could get any harder without turning into a slowdownfest (which I think was not CAVE's design choice for this particular game.)

I dunno, can't they just make it harder without having things slow down or is their hardware truly that bad? DOJ wasn't that bad on the slow down so if they'd just make it something like that then it would be cool enough.

Every Donpachi has had a second loop... They know they HAVE to honor the traditions.

You're seriously underestimating rank there. The C-E vid player spent most of the game on rank 0–2, and that was quite enough to overwhelm him.

Furthermore, Futari God runs in 30 fps most of the time, has easy bosses, and a screen-clearing enemy every 5–10 seconds.

I'm pretty sure that's just a visual effect. It happens every time no matter how well or poorly you play.

I made it past the first mid-boss in stage 5 today, so I think I'll be able to beat it soon. I wish there was a loop.

Well yes, the bosses look pretty awesome. I guess it's just a predictable reaction to seeing a new game tbh. Like, from the moment they announced that they were going to make what is essentially DOJ 2, people had started making up their opinions about what they think that the game should be like.

For me I had questions like, so it's gonna be harder than DOJ? How many years will it take before Hibachi get's beaten? This time it's gonna be about dodging instead of bullet cancelling right? What new tricks does Hibachi have up his sleeves?

I guess that the game just didn't live up to the expectations among some people but once the game get's in our hands we'll probably like it anyway.

I think you're also forgetting that the game's only been out for 2 days. Surely by the time they start jacking up the rank they'll have far more efficient stage routes than the ones used in that video. DOJ had rank too and people sure as hell weren't cheesing their way to 2-5 on their 2nd day with the game.

Honestly, that was pretty much an assumption based on how long it's taken people here with the benefit of savestates and replays. Maybe someone who was around back then could shed some light on long it takes pros to break down difficult games.
