Active X360 Online FTG Communities?

Post by Moniker »

Recently booted up BlazBlue CS for the first time since I drunkenly bought it GoD half a year ago. Couldn't get a single game going online. As of a few days ago, SkullGirls was pretty dicey too. Only reliable one I have right now is SSFIV: AE. Was hoping some folks could give me some feedback on community strength of the following games:

BlazBlue CS EX (main one I'm interested in, now that I've gotten into CS)
King of Fighters 13
(Ultimate) MvC3
Tekken 6
Marvel vs Capcom 2
Garou
King of Fighters 98, 2002
...
or any others that you'd recommend. Cheers.

No idea about how strong the community is, but I rarely have a problem finding a match on Tekken 6. We should play sometime
I don't play UMvC3 much, and I don't think I've actually taken it online yet, but I believe there shouldn't be a huge problem finding matches for it.

What areas are you searching in SkullGirls? I haven't had any problems getting matches consistently. Same goes for Blazblue, you just gotta go into training mode with fight request on. UMvC3 is quite strong as well. KOF XIII has some players, but sadly, the netcode in that one is pure ass.

I play all of those and AE on 360 if you ever wanna play some games (GT is drunkninja42).

3rd Strike still has a decent amount of online players. I know it wasn't on your list but just putting it out there.

BBCSEX has great netcode and you shouldn't have trouble finding a match at all.

...and yea, I only found 2 games on Skullgirls the other day when I tried. (searching NA, West Coast)

I'd suggest GGPO for all the emulated games, which includes KOF 98, 2002, Garou and 3S in your list among others, since that's where there's an active community and adequate netplay code.

It's a shame to hear that the Continuum Shift crowd has fallen apart. I'm not very good at fighting games, but I had a lot of really good matches on both Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift in the old days. Suppose I should get around to picking up the latest revision one of these days...

^^^it hasn't, it's moved on to CSEX.

When new editions of fighting games, usually the community switches to the new version.

True, but even after I got Continuum Shift, there were still plenty of people around on Calamity Trigger. Truth be told, I prefer the original version of the game over the first revision.

SSF2T HDR has an large bunch of players on X360. The standards are generally really high though, if you're not too familiar with the game you will take a spanking.

I see a few of my friendslist playing KoF13 too but I don't know how active that community is as I don't play it myself cos of region locking.
