Only a minor victory, but a victory nonetheless: I finally found a consistent way to deal with Sphinx's (stage 2 boss in Ketsui) canister attack without bombing!

Dude, where have you been? Naut getting the 2-ALL with A-E was a pretty big deal when it happened a few months ago

I was busy with other stuff, e.g. "real" life.

It looks like even the nastiest titles with 2 loops are getting conquered. I understand that there are 1-CC of Gunbird 2 (NTSC-J) and Dragon Blaze (some guy from the shmup'em all forum?).

Which titles are missing?

I know Stuminator, he of the badass Brad Fang avatar and fellow Gun.Smoke ALLer, 2-ALLed Dragon Blaze with Rob nearly three years ago - is he the shmup 'em all poster you mean? If not I guess there's at least two western DB 2-ALLs.

Futari Ultra, Ketsui Ura, and DOJ WL are the only big ones left, I think. Jaimers has been working on Ketsui for a while now and has even beaten Ura in savestate starting from the loop and I've made some decent progress in Ultra (stage 5 boss w/ 3b)  but beating both TLBs feels slightly out of reach still.

You people seem to have forgotten the legendary second loop of the japanese version of Mahou Daisakusen.

I was thinking about making a thread on this, but since we're here, yea there aren't many left to be conquered. Psikyo loops used to be pretty feared, but now the only ones left are Strikers 1945 Plus and Sol Divide (and those have more to do with being pretty crappy games).

Cave still has a few. The three you mentioned, plus Muchi Muchi Pork.

Has no one beaten DFK BL Strong yet?

Nope, but I don't think it's really on the same level as the 2-ALLs and is more just a case of not many people having played it yet.

Another big one remaining is DFK Power Ura though, the only real way to clear DFK!

what about bloody jitterbug (DSMBL) that always seemed kinda riciulously difficult to me, was even a big secret for a loooong time (untill the DVD came out, even tho it was hinted in the xbox port beforehand)...

I want to reach Zatsuza now what I understand is I need to no miss the entire game to reach him thats somewhat a problem. if I also want a decent score due to being forced to use hypers on all bosses except stage 1. You start running dry around stage 4 and screwing up to pick up a blinking bee in the later stages will result in disaster later on milking the bosses for hypers is a pretty risky move aswell. If you want to play for score suiciding certain parts to regain hypers is probably the way to go.

Has futari 1.0/1.01 ultra ever been won? (Japan or otherwise).

All 45 bees, then no miss Golden Disaster.

I am almost tempted to attempt Mahou. I have cleared 99 verts, so a 100th title that is something actually worth bothering about, would be great.

I need to find myself some time. And a decent, tateable monitor.

Oh how did I forget, you also need to beat the URA midbosses, and of level bosses with full red guage. That should be everything.

You'd need to do the ura midbosses to get all 45 bees anyway, there are only 7 per stage if you stick to the normal route.

Must resist L2P comment

lol
I'm not good and I have no intentions of playing DOJ again.

Isn't there some random dodging involved with Hibachi?

iirc Naut was using some sort of circular motion for one of the patterns.

So much wrong here. Bees and routes have nothing to do with anything in DFKBL. Nobody ever does the first two stages in the Ura route anyway with Bomb/Strong since the normal stage 1 is better for score.

You're wrong. It's rare, but it's happened.

You don't get Zatsuza if you're trying to maximise score. Going the Zatsuza route actually reduces your maximum score. Playing to get Hibachi, not Zatsuza to score will get you more points.

On the official DVD the Zatsuza run is like...200-300 billion points less than the strong style Hibachi run.

On the power style replay where the guy scores like 97% of the world record (the same player too) he only collects the bare minimum bees to trigger the stuff he needs to.

With regards to no missing, you have to basically do enough to trigger golden disaster after rull red guaging every URA midboss and level boss, then no miss golden disaster.

So yeah my previous "45 bees" comment was wrong.

To play for Zatsuza or for score, currently my tactic revolves around entering URA during stage 3 which means no Zatsuza.
I will have to think about it.

Umm, the Zatsuza run in the official DVD does normal route stages 1 and 2. He also misses at least the bees during the stage 3 midboss. Most of that score difference comes from the fact that the scoring in general is not very optimal in that run. He's more lazy in the hit gathering and doesn't milk any of the bosses.

The only real limiting thing is that the normal Strong run has a death near the end of stage 5 to stock up on hypers which ends up being worth more than the huge Zatsuza bonus.

If that's true then apologies, I was wrong. Maybe you just need to red gauge the end of level bosses >.>
