that's every Raiden game ever.
I think the bullets not following respective of the background wobble scrolling is more noticable with Raiden IV than any of the other Raiden titles. Pretty sure it doesn't happen in the Fighters games, and I've never been able to notice it in 1/2 to be sure.

I'm pretty sure the bullets that move with you as you scroll the screen left/right is exclusive to Raiden IV, within the Raiden series anyway. It happens in tate as well, so I don't think it's an issue with the wobble scroll.

It's been a while, but in Raiden III I think there was no left/right scrolling at all?

Didn't KOF Skystage have the moving bullets thing going on too? (again by MOSS).

It's hard to work out whether or not this phenomenon is just an optical illusion or something more.

ahh my bad. I didn't understand what he was talking about. I thought he was just complaining about sniper tanks taking your ass out from the side/bottom of screen, hence the "every Raiden game ever".

There's no screen wobble, but technically there is some side scrolling and rotation.

Got to 1-4 today. This game rules. I never thought I'd say this, but this kind of makes me want to try Garegga.

Well, I got it but it's just been sitting on my shelf. I suppose I got it as an insurance policy... You know, in case I ever get hit with mild brain damage or something. But seriously, its pretty much like any Raiden game so you're going to want to play it, until you actually play it.

If you're into aimed fast bullets that depend on memory rather than timing to dodge more so then it may be your thing.

This thread prompted me to look up what Moss has been doing for the past year.

Looks like besides the release of the superplay DVD they very recently released Raiden III and IV for NESiCA live.

There's some desktop wallpapers here I hadn't seen before:

http://raiden.mossjp.co.jp/raiden4/arcade/download.html

MOSS' long silence likely means one of two things: either they're working on Raiden V or they're effectively out of business.

Given the NESiCA release, something you need programmers for, hopefully it's the former.

The wallpapers have been there for quite a while now actually, I'm fairly certain more than a year too unless my memory's tripping me up.

Be nice to see Raiden V. It would be interesting to see how they expand the formula.

And what you said about the NESiCA releases ~could~ insinuate that MOSS is testing the waters with newer hardware with a view to creating a brand new installment.

Not likely, but you never do know :)

It's not like I need a new Raiden yet anyway, as IV is still managing to kick my arse harder and more consistently than some of the harder CAVE stuff even. Dem Sniper bullets :?

Stage 3 is no longer kicking my ass. That's nice. I realize that if I do Red Shot and Missile for the stage play and Blue Shot and Missile for Boss play, I am a lot better at the game. Now Stage 4 is kicking my ass.

Also, I'm realizing that a good thing to remember is to look up the screen for regular enemies, but then look down the screen as soon as a sniper arrives, as they become immediate threats. Moving up and then scooping under the sniper can help you get out of harms way and destroy the fucker. This gets tougher when there's a bunch of dudes wanting to kill you from every which way later in the game. But, that's why Red Shot is sweet for level play.

I find that the blue Laser and Homing combination works well.

In-level the laser tends to destroy bigger enemies before they can become much of a threat, while the Homing Missiles take care of any popcorn that get thru.

And you've already worked out that Laser is great for speedkilling the bosses, so...
