I was wondering if there were any scaler/video device that could tell you what vertical res, horizontal res, vertical freq, and horizontal freq it was receiving, maybe by lights or an LCD on the front.
Even if not all 4 of those, are there any devices that at least show you some of those stats,
Also a separate question, are there any devices that can output 240p, 480p, 720p, and 1080p, but it can take a 480p source, and put it in the center of a 720p or 1080p screen, assuming square pixels with black boarders all around.
In this sense it wouldn't be scaling at all, but just centering the image, assuming square pixels, and then outputting a full 1080p signal to the display

Re: Looking for a special kind of video device
Well, the XRGB-mini can output in all of those but 240p. And there is a "smart x1" mode which does the centered thing you mention. On a 240p signal, the picture is awfully small.

The Extron RGB interfaces with LCD's do this (such as the 203 Rxi).I was wondering if there were any scaler/video device that could tell you what vertical res, horizontal res, vertical freq, and horizontal freq it was receiving, maybe by lights or an LCD on the front.
