It's probably not a big issue as they appear to be less prone to leaking/corroding compared to dry cell batteries like a standard AA battery, and there's probably not enough acid that'd leak out to damage the game and render it unusable (except maybe in a smaller delicate cartridge like a Gameboy one?) but it's definitely hilarious to think that a mint RPG that's been tested and has a working battery is more valuable than a shrinkwrapped RPG that could potentially have a dead battery or worse.BIL wrote:Sealed, stone-dead games... lmao, what a testament to utter uselessness that would be.

Holy fuck! I knew sealed game collectors were stupid, but not that they paid thousands of dollars for a single game. You could get carts of pretty much every SNES title worth playing for the same cash as one sealed game you'd never play.

Aren't you glad you toughed it out, though? ;] I kind of am, just for the memory of earning the final title screen and being amazed at how lame it was in comparison to the previous two.Mortificator wrote:... and so it does. Knowing that would have spared my younger self some rage.
I wish 1080 had one. If the save goes you can't use half of the courses. Actually, I think all games with unlockable significant features should have a 100% cheat.
edit: hey, isn't that Rick Santorum at 2:40? Must be a pretty good source of campaign funds, a shrinkwrapping plant and an eBay account...

So I got a sealed Ketsui and Raiden III. Guess I'll have to open those up and record it for fun. I hope Rancor didn't shit in my Ketsui and reseal it.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

He probably ate a ton of Green Tea Kit Kats, shit, formed a nice 5 chip out of said poop, and THEN sealed it up.
Hopefully you aren't point-blank when you open the box.

Skykid... After seeing those laughable prices for the Stack-Game and the rob.-nes, you completely won me over.
Unfortunately, I haven't any games to unpack atm...
And the next games arriving at my doorstep should be akai katana pal-version and (hopefully) Raiden Fighters Aces - and I don't think that unpacking those 2 games should bother any shrink-wrap fetishists.
But if need shall be, I *could* film myself how I take a crap in my MMP/PS-Box and have it resealed. Hmm, I think I should open a vote about that. Or maybe not. *lolno*

That would actually be the best video ever. As for AK and RFA, of course you should film them. The point is the pointlessness of the cellophane, so every video helps.Drachenherz wrote:Skykid... After seeing those laughable prices for the Stack-Game and the rob.-nes, you completely won me over.

That, and you can't actually verify what you're buying is actually what you're buying (at least not without 'devaluing' the game according to the arbitrary cellophane = $$$ system), so scammers could be finding boxes in mint condition and selling resealed boxes with the games in them replaced with crappy sports games noone gives a crap about (loads of 'em for the SNES and Genesis in used stores). A collector who has no intention of opening the game might not find out until long after the seller's vanished.Skykid wrote:The point is the pointlessness of the cellophane, so every video helps.

Yeh, but assuming it's never opened, the contents will always be as good as genuine.

Some French dudes have been quite competently forging entire Neo Geo AES Metal Slug carts and selling them to Japan for years. Anyone who thinks it's hard to forge shrinkwrap needs a good beating.

Well it's your nineteen-thousand dollars. That much should at least buy you peace of mind. Personally I'd never have that peace with an object I couldn't examine beyond the exterior, but I suppose thats a burden SGC have to live with.RGC wrote: And equally that you cannot tell it has.
Yes, good work my man! Unfortunately the music tracks *may* need to go, depending on whether or not youtube flags them for commercial reasons and tries to stamp ads all over the channel. I'll take care of it tho.mrsmiley381 wrote:So does this make me part of the secret club now or what?

Considering they were all ripped from YouTube clips, I wouldn't worry too much. I can always change the title and keep it on my channel, just to keep THE MAN off you for Gallantry, Burn Yourself, and My Glorious Days.Skykid wrote:Yes, good work my man! It's like Schrodinger's cat if it were either a rare game or a literal turd.
Marina has some advice for us all, however:
"SHAKE SHAKE!"
(and yes, if you get the Japanese version, it wasn't sealed!)

Wow, geez.....who the hell buys a game, not to play it, but just for the fact that it's sealed in mint condition-and never, EVER plays it. Talk about plumbing the depths of stupidity....in all honesty; if I made a game and somebody bought it just to keep it sealed like that-I would feel insulted.

Almost. They'd purchase a mail-order bride and never undress her.xbl0x180 wrote:Would these guys marry a hot chick and never have sex with her![]()
If she undressed herself she'd be kicked out due to her inability to remain in mint condition with the wrapper unbroken.

So is anyone going to unseal any actual rare titles or are you just going to semi-not-prove-your-point by opening common ones no-one cares about.
Come on, I want to see someone open something and lose thousands of dollars in the process, or is it different then?
If some moron is going to pay me $17,000 for a sealed game you're damn right I'm selling it instead of making a youtube video. Any of you lot would also.

Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
I think the fundamental problem that we're talking about is that sealing a game somehow makes it more valuable.
That Super Mario Galaxy II is a perfect example. Anyone here can easily walk to their local game store and pick up a copy of this game brand-new, never-played, minty fresh factory sealed etc etc for whatever normal price games go for these days (around here that's $60ish).
To then take that game, put it in a plexiglass container and put a sticker on it that says "VGA 90" or whatever the fuck grading system they've come up with, and claim that it's value has now quadrupled, is straight up raving bat-shit over-the-moon lunacy.

Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
It's the same with transformers, and rightly so. If I had the money to collect I'd prefer to buy AFA MISB versions instead of them because they hold their value, I'd never plan to open them anyway.
What I don't understand is why it pisses people off so much, if someones got 18k spare to buy something they want, with their own money, well good luck to them. They sure aren't going to care about some youtube video or sealed game defense force opening up $9 common titles.
If anyone here came across a factory sealed stadium events somehow, lets say in some old shop stock or something, you're damn right they'd be putting it on ebay with the ludicrous $17,999 buy it now which makes people laugh, and not opening it. You'd be a moron not to, and that kinda defeats the object of this little charade.
ASGD motto 'unseal it if it's not worth much else if its really rare fuck yeah I'm gonna sell it just like everyone else'
