A bit of a meta-question:

If a GD or ST thread exists for a shmup, and I have a specific question about a stage/boss/whatever that isn't covered in those threads, should I start a new thread, or post in the GD/ST thread?

If I have a question about another boss in the same game, should I post it in my first boss thread to avoid spawning over 9000 threads, or should it get a new thread?

I'm pretty sure the top pic is the Hori EX2. As far as I know, every MadCatz stick uses quick disconnects, so nothing should be soldered to the PCB.

Can't believe I didn't notice it, but the PCB on the bottom of the picture says "HORI" on it.

You get the extend by destroying the extend building thingo without dying/bombing. So as soon as it apears on screen just laser the shit out of it/hyper and itll appear.

With the dai-fukkatsu black label arrange mode ost is their any reason why some copies have the cover with doom on it and others have the cool lenticular one that changes between alice and ai?

That is NOT true. At least in strong mode it isn't, even without hypering, dying, or bombing at all, I most of the time don't get it.
So.. yeah that's not the answer.

It must be quite different from 1.5 Strong as what AntiFritz describes applies there

I'm 10000% sure that you DO get an extend, but only rarely... and some of my worst runs have ended almost the best because I got lucky with the extend

Okay, figured it out. No missing stage 3 (not 100% sure how vital this part is) and approaching and killing that little section that houses the 1up with a maxed out red gauge made it appear.

So basically full red gauge = 1 up.

Edit: Tested more. You can die, all you have to do is kill that section with a full red bar to get the 1up.

1.5 works completely differently so it's more like a different game. Many people (including me) think it's the better game, but there are also many who like BL more. It plays more like the earlier DDPs so if you're into those you should definitely get it.

I'm interested in espgaluda 2 because of epic scoring videos, but I guess it has no replay value in terms of survival?
EDIT: Oh, and is DFK 1.5 worth it if I've got the black label already?

Personally i like 1.5 alot more then black label (but not the ost). Alot of people don't like it because of chaining though.

Espgaluda 2 has quite alot of modes to play (and none are dlc either) too but be warned that afaik its a tough 1cc (atleast it kicks my ass just as much as ketsui anyway).

Because the combination of 1.5 Maniac, 1.5 Original, and Black Label's God Mode makes Futari the best shooting game.

I don't know what you mean about Espaluda though. It took me longer to clear it than any other shooter I've played so far (2 weeks), so I'd say it has plenty of replay value. Plus the scoring system is really deep and fun. Black Label is one of Cave's best console modes as well, just behind Akai Katana Shin.

Because it has like 100 different ships, making it difficult to manage scores, and shmups have moved on from the R-Type formula. R-Type isn't relevant anymore.
