Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
I opened all my video games already. I open them as soon as I get them in order to play for a few hours before shelving them. I wasn't aware Muchi Muchi Pork & Pink Sweets was outta print

Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
I have a BUNCH of sealed PS2 games. I've been buying used copies to play them so I don't have to open them...NOT because I collect sealed...but simply because if some FOOL wants to pay me that much money for shrinkwrap when I don't want the game anyway....why open them at all?
<@scootnet> if you were a real gamer, you could jerk it to Super Metroid box art
Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
Take a vid on your phone opening it and send me the link (email at the channel.)shmuppyLove wrote:I've got a sealed Omega Boost on the way. Not exactly a rare collector's item, but I'll do what I can "for the cause"
Same as above Jase.PlanetHarriers wrote:Hmm. I've still got a Radiant Silvergun brand new / sealed that I bought from the import shop down Carnaby Street many moons ago. The name of the shop escapes me right now - Ace? Anyone remember it? Only cost me 50 notes as well. I'll probably end up getting the STV version and popping it on ebay.
Well if you didn't buy them to play them, fair enough, but if you fancy opening one... send over the vid.maxlords wrote:I have a BUNCH of sealed PS2 games. But what is the point? You created a youtube channel and uploaded two videos of unsealing BOOTLEGS. So what?

re the "tear / burn stuff" posts: you're conflating opening a package with destroying its contents. This is actually how sealed game people think. And they have to find Jesus/Buddah on their own so this topic isn't gonna help either.

Oh trust me, with some of the mind-searingly banal shite they fawn over on SGH (FOUND A PAL MADDEN 2003, UHHHHH YEAHHH), a sealed OB would be the talk of the town. The game, not the tampons. There are sellers sleazy enough to take used copies and try to pass them off as brand new by resealing them?TrevHead (TVR) wrote:Its them resealling ebay sellers that are the worst.

Sounds like there's some brain cells you didn't get tbh. The channel and point are both self-explanatory, I don't need to go over it again. The reproductions are the only sealed games I had, hence they comprise the only two videos. Need I mention it once more for the deaf of reading, the channel won't work without contributions. If I get none, I'll just close it. If it's a question of 'why', it's because I like to offend stupid people. Judging by the tone of the responses in this thread, it seems like I'm off to a good start.
Sealed game collectors completely deserve it. I applaud those ebay sellers, they're doing the right thing.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:Its them resealling ebay sellers that are the worst.

Send over the Omega Boost vid.
CHI got a few Cave 360 games he's willing to unseal for me when he gets a chance. I'll keep my eyes open for anything I find vaguely retro to add to the pile.
I'm not sure if the idea/channel will ever really snowball, but I'll give it a little lifespan and see what happens.
What I'd really like to do is have a video that causes every sealed game collector across the land to suddenly wonder if they haven't got a $5k sealed box full of french fries sitting on the shelf, but I'll need a vid that proves how easy it is to reseal a game to get the point across.

Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
But it's idiotic to rip open valuable sealed games. It makes much more sense to sell them to people with more money than brains.
It would make even less sense to buy old sealed games for stupid money just to open them, thereby instantly reducing their value to the level of mint but used games.
Last but not least, by reducing the number of sealed games, you actually help drive up the value of the remaining ones. Oh no.
But hey, who am I to try and confuse you with reason. Please proceed.

Are you insinuating that Skykid is really just jelly because he can't afford teh sealed gaemz? Interesting angleBIL wrote:Poor people, LOL

(Of course I do agree with him that collecting sealed games is probably beyond the realm of sanity; definitely dangerous territory.)
Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
NAWWW, I'm (dickishly
) suggesting that anyone who has to worry about devaluing games through basic use (open, stick in console, play) has no business owning them in the first place. Regardless of personal wealth. This is where we get into the tragic realms of profiteers (GET A REAL JOB) and Sealed Game Heaven's denizens.
(stuff like the $5000 SOM in the other topic is so deep within the howling Lovecraftian abyss of bleeding-eyed, finger-gnawing insanity, a purchase of it simply can't be rationalised)

Sig'd for great justice. The combination of Lovecraft, bleeding eyes and finger gnawing is too delicious to resist.BIL wrote: (stuff like the $5000 SOM in the other topic is so deep within the howling Lovecraftian abyss of bleeding-eyed, finger-gnawing insanity, a purchase of it simply can't be rationalised)
I will keep the horribly mangled Engrish description of Blazing Star on standby though.

lolz, I have a sealed Omega Boost too
probably got a crack in the case too
(Actually I have a ton of sealed games - Ninja Five-O, Shinobi, Neo Contra, and some others for PS2, sum DS era Castlevaniaz, a bunch of FDS titles like Metroid, Dracula, both Zeldas and Nazo no Murasamejoh, etc., some of it I just never got around to using, but for these I don't see a point in opening them, now, especially if I have opened copies)

Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
I actually like the idea of taking the money of sealed game collectors more than depriving them of their sealed bounty. ;3
On the other hand, I'm pretty fine with both options. Shame I don't have any videos, I usually open all my games immediately.

You completely dodged this post: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 43#p783943
Value is what people are willing to pay for something, plain and simple. You may not like it, I may not like it, but that doesn't change a thing.

This makes you worse than the intention of this thread. I'd rather take a dig at SGC because it's anti-gaming (i.e, for people who don't play games) and screws morons out of exorbitant amounts of cash, and you just want to take advantage of the fad so you can rip people off.But it's idiotic to rip open valuable sealed games. It makes much more sense to sell them to people with more money than brains.
Nice.

No it doesn't. If you have something valuable and devalue it on purpose, then that makes you an idiot.Skykid wrote: This makes you worse than the intention of this thread.
(Unless of course it gives you some sort of special pleasure to spend a ton of money on a sealed game and then open it, and if the pleasure you receive equals the amount of money paid in addition to what a used copy would have cost). I for one have no feelings whatsoever towards ripping open cellophane bags.
NB, I don't deal with sealed games nor do I collect them. This is just a matter of reason.
Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
Nice "price-obsessive" + "cellophane fetishist" strawman! I like how nowhere in your post do you acknowledge gamers who correctly regard all that crap as an obstacle and genuinely enjoy having a working library of original software in great shape. Set up the "you don't even play them!" strawman next so I can tear its ass apart with hardcore gaming insights. I'll teach you how to not suck at Taroumaru. ;]Friendly wrote:Unless of course it gives you some sort of special pleasure to spend a ton of money on a sealed game and then open it, and if the pleasure you receive equals the amount of money paid in addition to what a used copy would have cost.
Neither do I. If I did I wouldn't own any Famicom, Mega Drive or SFC games because they were never sealed in the first place. Or several dozen secondhand games for later systems. Cellophane obsessives, fuck me.I for one have no feelings whatsoever towards ripping open cellophane bags.

I laugh at people who shows off there "GAMEZ COLLEKTIONZ" with 1000's of sealed games they never played.

Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
So if you buy something in order to resell it at a profit at a later date, then you are an asshole? Or does that only apply to goods you are personally interested in?Skykid wrote:And if you keep it sealed only for the intention of making massive resale profit then that makes you an asshole.Friendly wrote:If you have something valuable and devalue it on purpose, then that makes you an idiot.

How about taking the game out, crapping into the box, and then resealing it?Skykid wrote:Personally I'd like someone to get me a vid of them resealing an old snes game in a factory - man that would be fun.

Because you haven't actually replied. You say that people who buy goods in order to make a profit are assholes. Which, like this entire topic makes one think that you haven't actually thought this through.
