Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
After chewing the fat with some of the Casino regulars over the offensiveness of sealed game collecting/grading/cellophaneworship etc, we came up with the Anti Sealed Game Defence Force. It won't work without contributions but I'm willing to give it a go just for the hell of it.

If you want to contribute just take a video unsealing your game/s and send it or the online link to the address specified on the channel and I'll get it on there.

Better start throwing 'obi strips' away then also as they are equally useless, and the regcards inside

Needs more diabolical laughter or something.
Or people need to start freaking out and posting about it.

Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
I would support this if the obi cards are thrown away

I've got a sealed Omega Boost on the way. Not exactly a rare collector's item, but I'll do what I can "for the cause"

This is idiotic.

I know, but if it pisses a few people off I'm happy to make time for it.ArrogantBastard wrote:This is idiotic.

Post footage of the game being played, too. Just to rub more salt on the wounds. (I want to see how that Rockman looks and sounds on the PCE. Please?)
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.
Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
I don't understand. If the point was to troll sealed game collectors, wouldn't they see these videos and LOL at the person who just lost his money, and then be happy that its going to drive up the value of their own sealed games because now there is one less in the market?Skykid wrote:I know, but if it pisses a few people off I'm happy to make time for it.ArrogantBastard wrote:This is idiotic.
Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
Who cares? People lost their money as soon as they bought the video game... actual money was transferred in exchange for sealed trinket

Well, there are two motives for sealed game collecting:Dave_K. wrote:I don't understand. 1.) The moral case: Sealed games contribute to the moral status of the world in some fashion. They might serve the purpose of the closest approximation to Plato's Forms: The last examples of a type of thing (a game), assumed to be pure because they have not been unduly disturbed from their manufacture. A losing proposition because of the mutability of the world, but they might still argue it is a moral act.
2.) The economic case: What you stated. The actual preservation of rare games is not the concern; the games do not matter except in that they provide a familiar object for speculation, a market in which which the sealed game speculator considers himself a world expert.
The obvious response to both cases, if you wish to troll, is to fraudulently seal games, and expose the inability of sealed game collectors to protect or prove the purity of their sealed games.
I have two ideas, which you might discount, for a channel logo:
#1
The other is the picture of the guy with an ice axe attacking a seal :O

Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
I never bothered to notice how serious sealed-game collectors are about keeping their games sealed so I'm amazed that it's enough to start a whole YouTube channel over the thing.

Maybe its that I don't pay attention to fetish/moral things like this, but show me a sealed game collector that doesn't rate their collection monetarily. Thus, the youtube troll attempt seems to fail in my opinion, as it only increases value of any remaining units on the market.Ed Oscuro wrote:Well, there are two motives for sealed game collecting:
Now to your other point of disproving the state of "sealed" is indeed troll worthy!

Glad its not just me thinking this.SuperSoaker360 wrote:I never bothered to notice how serious sealed-game collectors are about keeping their games sealed so I'm amazed that it's enough to start a whole YouTube channel over the thing.

...I still want to see obi strips and reg cards torn up, as well as cave dip sheets.
What's the difference between keeping something sealed and keeping a meaningless piece of paper? Right?

Neither make any difference to the game working, and all they do is preserve or increase value of the item. Really not much of a difference.

Hmm. I've still got a Radiant Silvergun brand new / sealed that I bought from the import shop down Carnaby Street many moons ago. The name of the shop escapes me right now - Ace? Anyone remember it? Only cost me 50 notes as well. I'll probably end up getting the STV version and popping it on ebay.
Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
Eh, I think sealed game collecting is kind of silly. The point is to play the game. I do think that it has at least some merit from a historical standpoint, though, in the same way that preserving a rare book has merit.
It would be really cool to see a "Video Game Museum" or library eventually constructed that protects and archives every noteworthy game that is made. You could go to one location and see every title ever made in pristine condition (and then play an expendable copy of course, haha).

Takes about three minutes to set up man, no biggie.
Personally I very much dislike the entire notion of sealed game collecting, always have. I find it a little distasteful that someone will take a great game and never liberate it from its packaging to fulfil its purpose. You can still keep something complete/mint and enjoy the game. Cellophane means nothing.
This channel will only work on contributions, cos frankly I don't have any sealed games left (and can't afford to pay $6,000 for a Secret of Mana to open it.)
Personally I'd like someone to get me a vid of them resealing an old snes game in a factory - man that would be fun.

This topic makes no sense. So you are anti sealed games and also a force that defends something?
Anyway, redundant thread. All that ever needed to be said about sealed games was said here:

I wish you would have started this sooner. I cracked open a Mars Matrix and an Ikaruga a while back. It was incredibly satisfying.
I guess I'll do this for some J360 games I have in the mail and my Gunlord Dragon Edition when it (someday) gets here.

Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.
Re: Suicide Bullets: Anti Sealed Game Defence Force
Yeah, I did a Lords of Thunder like last year. It was kinda weird feeling.
