Videogames that have weird writing on the back cover

Post by MOSQUITO FIGHTER »

Well this is a strange topic. I was at the used game store today and spotted this. The guy who wrote this seems a bit psychotic.

REVENGERS OF VENGEANCE-SEGA CD

On the back cover it says.

REVENGE IS SWEET...
THEY AREN'T!!
BASED ON A TRUE STORY!!
(WTF! IS THIS CRAP I'M LOOKING AT PICTURE OF A WEREWOLF FIGHTING A RHINO THAT'S STANDING ON 2 LEGS WEARING ARMOR AND HOLDING A SWORD.)

REVENGER OF VENGENANCE erupts onto your screen with heart-stopping, limb-tearing, fist-throwing, hand-to-hand combat action, and pulls you-kicking and screaming for mercy-into a fantastic and violent world!
(Mabey just a little too intense perhaps)

You will be absorbed by 10 tragic and inspiring tales of reluctant heroes battling the evil devil king VENUM! You'll gape in awe at their savage and brutal struggles without quarter!

CHEER when Barko the Man-Wolf shreds his enemy with a flurry of claws!(Who would actually do this)

SCREAM with feverish joy when the mighty Algos fells his opponent with the foe-crippling Gut Ripper!
(Sorry I don't take orders from videogame back covers)

If you've ever felt the need to pummel an evil-doer into the dirt, REVENGERS OF VENGEANCE may just be the video game that changes your life!
(Yeah-I've wanted to pummel evil-doers before but I don't think any videogame is going to change my life)

WARNING: NO PLAYERS WILL BE PERMITTED TO JOIN THE GAME DURING THE FINAL CONFRONTATION WITH VENUM!
(So I guess just watching the final battle would be cool-yeah right)

-Three ways to play, including a detailed fantasy role-playing mode!
(Whoa it possible to buy stuff before the crappy fighting neat-o)

-Each Revenger has secret, hidden death moves that can lay waste to their foes!

Extreme Entertainment Group
(Guess their write up of the game is the only thing extreme about this game-Extremely Bad)

I am so ashamed furry characters participated in the creation of that game. :P

but come on Revengers of Vengeance, thats like the greatest video game title ever, you gotta cut'em some slack they probably wasted all their creative talent on the name, they were tapped out when it came to the back of the box.

Not weird writing but... on the brazilian release of Strider for the Genesis, one of the screenshots is actually from the Master System version.

Nah, the best video game title ever is still Violence Fight (as opposed to what, Pacifism Fight?)

As for wacky stuff on the back of the box, here's Raiden Trad for Genesis(bad spelling and all.) Apparently the Sega Genesis Seal of Quality isn't the same thing as the Sega Genesis Seal of Proofreading. The manual inside the box isn't much better:

Continuously dominating no-1 popularity long after debut at arcades!

AD 2090

The world is attacked by aliens from outer apace(sp). The world has united forces which fight back fiercely. Top world scientists have analyzed wreckage of enemy planes shot down, and created a supersonic fighter bomb called "Raiden".

However, since these aircrafts are technically sophisitcated, there is only one pilot in the world who is able to handle it.

The Raiden is just about to take off, and the entire world is now depending on this Raiden!

The back cover of Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival GBA mentioned modes that aren't even in the game.

Still can't belive that I paid .95 cents for Revengers of Vengeance. I could have bought something much cooler. Like some Pogs or neon shoelaces.

Found some new ones. These did mostly a good job of describing the game but just had weird sayings.

DYNAMITE COP!-DC

Got good aim with a rack of beef?

Cubivore-GC

Dolby Surround Sound immerses you in a world of wild grunts, menacing growls, and terifying screeches! (perfect way to use the technology)

IN THE HUNT-PS

Down periscope and blow 'em to squid spit! (gay)

Didn't the NES Metal Gear box have the some of the same nonsense about Vermon CaTaffy on it that was in the manual?

oh yeah, the box for the GBA Paperboy/Rampage has a descrption of the PSX Rampage Universal Tour on the back of it.

Mosquito, how is this game alike ?

Is it a fighting game that also can also be played like an RPG?

Ive been seraching for a Sega CD game like that for ages... though I think it was japanese, and this looks like its american.

In this game, when playing in the RPG mode, there was also at least one shmup levle..

Don't know if this is the game your talking about.

It is actually made by a japanese company called MicroNet. In japan the title was Battle Fantasy. Don't know about the shmup level though.

Game kind of plays like a poor Samurai Showdown and at the end of the fight the character gains exp points and then puts you back at the town to buy items then opon leaving town you choose locations from a map and from these go to the 2d fighting.

There's a screenshot of it at vgrebirth.org (sorry computer illiterate- don't know how to make a hyperlink)

Micronet is the company that is apparently responsible for the above mentioned Raiden Trad Genesis port, so it wouldn't surprise me that their other products are chock full of bad Engrish...

Jesus. It says "mabey" on the back of Revengers of Vengeance? This just got a whole lot weirder than I thought.
