Daytona USA & Sega Rally on sale (XBLA)

Post by Moniker »

Daytona USA & Sega Rally are each on sale for 400 MSP ($5) on XBLA this week. I remember from a previous thread that each of these has a decent following. If I were to get only one, which should it be?

Sega Rally Online Arcade is a dumbed down and tweaked version of Sega Rally Revo to somewhat resemble the original Sega Rally Championship.

Daytona USA is a straight port of and in many ways superior to the arcade version.

I would definitely recommend Daytona USA.

I havnt played SR since the saturn version, but Dayatona USA is a solid game imo.

That reminds me ive got the PC Revo version still in its shrinkwrap somewhere, is the XBLA version worth getting or am I fine with PC Revo and emulation of the original? I could do with another xbla arcade racer but I was gonna plumb for one of the Outruns

Daytona USA. It's special. I've even gotten a friend who only likes racing sims a la Gran Turismo/ Forza to enjoy it.

I really like Rally, the handling is a lot more loose and arcade-like than the chunky Revo model, there are a couple of courses based on the original, and the acheivments are actually really well integrated and fun to go for. Daytona is a better than perfect port of one of the best coin-ops ever. Get both!

That's a great price for Daytona but I'm worried I won't like it because I suck at it. I played the demo and always ran out of time before I could finish.

There is an art to drifting and the twitchy controls can take some getting used to, but once you do get the hang of it, its very gratifying. I found the intermiediate track is the best to learn the controls on. The easy track is quite different from the other 2 because its more about the battle with the other cars. It does create a game with 2 different feels to them.
