Post by a.c._slatercore »

What video games have older hidden games emulated on them? Here's some examples:

Fight night 2 GC Super Punch-out
Ninja Gaiden xbox old Ninja Gaiden games
Outrun 2 Xbox old Outrun
TMNT2 xbox TMNT arcade game
Tekken 5 ps2 old Tekkens
Shenmue dc hang-on and Space Harrier
Zero Divide ps mini Phalanx
Doom 3 le xbox older dooms
Pitfall snes old pitfall

These are ones I can think of right now. I have a SNES, N64, GC, GBSP, Genesis, Saturn, DC, PS, PS2 and x box. If anybody can think of other games for these systems with secret emulators on them please post.

No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Zero Divide in Mini Phalanx has got to be the best secret game I've ever played; awesome stuff! Only three stages, but it does loop.

Really? I thought it was just the original Star Wars coin-op. Might have to pick this up now if this is true.

Day of the Tentacle has Maniac Mansion in it, though that's PC. I can't recall any others at the moment, though I'm almost certain I know of more... :?

Tyrian had that game which was like worms but with loads of different vehicles and in real time and god it was even better than the real game (and that wasnt half bad for a pc game at the time) I'd have payed for a full game of that with a few more units/customization/level editor etc

Yes. There is a screen of it in the GBA version here. http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/goegoe/1_2/game.html

Hardcore Gameing 101 has some screens from the SNES Goemon games in their Mystical Ninja/Goemon article.

The PC version of Panzer Dragoon is unlockable on Panzer Dragoon Orta (XBOX).

That's all I can think of now but I'm sure I've encountered others...

Not an emulator as such, but having Exhumed and Duke 3D complete save files present on the same Saturn unlocked Death Tank (I think that was the requirement anyway - it's been a while). Damn, that was a fun game.

Doom II on PC has some halfway-updated levels from Wolfenstein 3D hidden.

Chip's Challenge for Atari Lynx has a hidden Mandelbrot fractal generator that really shows off the Lynx's processing power.

Gradius 3 on the PS2 has sections of the first levels of Gradius and Salamander hidden and unlockable.

The NES rom for Jackal is hidden in the PC collection of Castlevania 1-3/Contra 1-2, but to date nobody knows how to unlock it.

From an article I remember in Super Play, it was planned for release as one of the first SNES CD games... don't know if work had started or this is related in any way? I think the CD ROM unit was a near finished product by the time it was canned, so maybe?
