I don't think pricing is the issue, I just want to play the game. Besides having a confirmed date means I don't have to keep checking steam every day.

Update on the eXceed OSTs: they will brutalize Bandcamp.com from Wednesday March 21st . And, as of today, the OST for the original eXceed 3rd – Jade Penetrate has been added to the roster!

Steam version won't have it.

You can even download the steam version, then copy the files to a computer without it, and it's still run.


Also, no DRM for any later releases. They mention it on their site.

So, if you're so antiDRM, buy the Steam version. You can even make a backup copy of it if you want. And I doubt they'll bother to crack it because there's a DRM free version already going to be available.

I'm pretty sure the original Japanese releases are DRM free anyway. Makes the whole DRM thing seem silly, but whatevs

Doujin developers wouldn't want to pay for something like that, especially when it doesn't work.


Capcom was the one forcing SecuROM on the nonSteam releases, but I guess they were able to show that the DRM wasn't helping them or something.

The no DRM policy agreement was reached after eXceed was locked & loaded for GG, but Steam will be DRM-free, as will another option we're lining up right now.

Steam is DRM. The fact that other companies have gotten even more intrusive doesn't change that fact. Whenever I hear people talking about games being "DRM-free on the Steam version" I think of that line from The Usual Suspects:

"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn't exist."

Steam is DRM. The fact that other companies have gotten even more intrusive doesn't change that fact. Whenever I hear people talking about games being "DRM-free on the Steam version" I think of that line from The Usual Suspects:

"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he doesn't exist."

You only download it through steam. You can then save the contents of the folder, completely uninstall steam, and play the game.

At least that's how it is with Satazius.

No, Steam's DRM is optional. It's up to the developer or publisher to choose whether or not they want DRM on their games.
