It's a slightly odd situation though. I kind of wonder if there's still some issues about who actually has the rights to release this game in countries outside of the three listed. Makes you wonder what rights to distribution dtp actually paid for, and whether they do hold the license to distibute it across Europe, or whether they are trying to extend the license above what they already have announced in order to achieve this? I wouldn't be surprised with the number of attempted launches that this game has had if some of the rights are still stuck in limbo due to the companies that folded before managing to release the game.

I just pre-ordered from the German site even though I live in the UK. Did not have much in the way of postage options and it cost something like 6 Euros to send it to me here in the UK. I hope this is the real deal this time as I love these games! :S

Do we know if the manual/menus will be in English or at least have an English option?

For Japanese version, menus are in English...so that will be the same for PAL version (and also UK for the manual)

I know I played it about 2 years ago when this game was first meant to be getting a PAL release.

The reason I wasn't taking for granted that this game would be in English is because it's release is currently limited to Germany, Austria and Switzerland and whilst I'm sure they'll try to license it in other PAL territories, that's not happening at the moment.

Pretty sure DTP (the company) said it'd be in English still in the same post they said it was coming out for Austria and co.

EDIT: 31 December 2012 for the UK release? That'd better be a database glitch and not the actual date because that seems silly.

Well it's not a glitch as such. It's the placeholder (obviously with no intention of being used) they are using for anywhere outside the 3 countries that they are claiming the April 20th release for because anywhere outside those three countries doesn't actually have a release scheduled.

They've indicated interest in releasing on a more widespread basis in PAL-land, but I kind of wonder (with all the balls up with this games rights and people going bust) whether they don't currently own the rights outside the three countries getting the release and maybe those distribution rights are still stuck in limbo with another company that is obviously not going to release it.

I'm going to preorder it in a couple of weeks from amazon.de if I think the April 20th release is going ahead because I'm not going to wait for a UK release that may never happen, and I don't want the game suddenly becoming unavailable because it had a small print run or was a massive flop with this rather limited release.

Following contact I have with Tradewest Games Ltd, 31 December 2012 (UK) is just a marketing mistake from dtp and the game will be released EFIGS (English, French, Italy, Germany, Spain) at the same time...so also in amazon.co.uk, amazon.fr...No worries !

ps: without Superplay DVD !

It may be a multi language release but it certainly isn't due to be released anywhere outside Germany, Austria and Switzerland on April 20th. No credible UK retailer is updating their dates to indicate this either.

The situation is those three countries only until (and if) we hear otherwise. It'll certainly be later than April 20th for anywhere else if it happens at all.

The game came with a superplay DVD to begin with? That's news to me. Not like I need to look any further than the recorded runs here on the forums anyway tho. :P

Always the pessimist. Considering the situation this bundle's been in for a while now though I expect you're probably right.

A non UK release is no skin off my nose, I half expected it to be published this way, Private sellers will probably put a few copies up on other sites even if non of the wholesalers touch it

I'm sure if they can negotiate a release across the majority of Europe then they will, it's just that it will be later. Importing it is easy though with big sites like amazon.de stocking it, and there's no import duty or VAT to worry about because it's being sent within the EU.

I guess *I'm* the one who should be complaining then. Australia will no doubt get fucked over yet again. :P

Not quite, because it'll actually run on your console, unlike Japanese/US locked games.

True, but with my luck with shipping from the EU I'll probably have to wait 8 weeks and then pay more than I should thanks to import duty etc. I think I'm definitely gonna wait for others to actually receive it before I order mine, that's for sure.

I just hope it's not something that's so limited that the price will end up through the roof if I don't pre-order. It's a weird situation all round to be fair.

The Japanese version did, though not the US release (then again the latter was only 20 bucks new so one can't complain too much).

Ah, I thought so. Explains why the Japanese version has quite a bump in price for original condition I suppose.

Now I know Amazon release dates dont mean jackshit but I have noticed that Akai Katana PAL is dated 18th of may and RFA 11th I hope this is not true because its bad for both games.
