The Circle Pad Pro is a comfortable cradle that holds the Nintendo 3DS system while adding an analog Circle Pad on the system's right side. The attachment also adds additional shoulder buttons to give it a feel more akin to traditional console controllers. It is designed as an optional accessory and is compatible with Resident Evil Revelations and METAL GEAR SOLID 3D Snake Eater.

Nintendo 3DS system sold separately.
At least it's only $20, but how fucking ugly and cumbersome is that?

Anyone else thinking we'll see a redesigned 3DS with dual-analog sticks by Christmas?

well the design is pretty horrible but it does its' job.

i hate nintendo simply for being so absolutely stubborn about being as "different" from other console makers as possible hoping that the games will sell it anyway. forcing you to play the games "their way" is basically what will kill them one day. you can't release a console with one analog stick in 2011. you just can't. if you want to then don't make 3d games on it. the wii u already has two. thank god. but it will still flop.

Nintendo are a baby step company.. They get a sexy woman and get her to dress up 12 different ways before they change the sexy woman. You think you fucked 12 women, but NCL know you only fucked one. If you don't bite straight away they throw incentives like "3D makes your cock hard" and you'll come running like a bitch.

Apple have adopted such philisophies, albeit they upgrade the hardware as they go along as well. I hear people queue up outside the store when the slut is nice and fresh.

What a positively creepy and alienating way to describe a console addon

Thanks bro!

I get crap for being an Apple user, but they are always first on market with something I've wanted forever, which I can't say for Nintendo.

128gig solid state drive in a netbook sized computer? Yes please.
Resolution so high you can't see the pixels in a phone? Yes please.
I mocked the i-pad forever for being a "big iphone" but they just sold me on that too, for use as an e-reader for comics. Nothing else has that kind of resolution.

What do Nintendo do? "Here's another Gamecube. It has some new technology though... we invented it. It wasn't invented in the 70s for use in remote controls, or anything like that."

"Here's another DS. It has... mildly better resolution, but not the big upgrade you are hoping for. It has some 3D without glasses technology though, which halves the resolution of course... we invented it. It's not existed since the 1940s in novelty postcards or anything like that."

I really wish they would stop doing this because it's just embarrassing.

The Wii is a really good karaoke machine though. It's basically all I use it for.

The thing is, when I eventually buy an Ipad I will likely be happy with it. It won't make me go stir crazy waiting for the next edition of it.

Since mobile phones came out people have gone stir crazy about having the best features on their phones. It has crept into handheld gaming and Apple products. The thing is, your making their marketing teams look really good with their sales. The product as a standalone piece of kit is very average because the 1st edition is 9/10ths of the 2nd edition.

If you took this philosphy to TV's I'd have had 110 Tv's since HD came out.

I mean how many people replace their vacuum cleaner because its hose is 6" longer or the new BRIGHT YELLOW version came out?

whatever man.. I see a trend in people that is remarkably worrying.

Nintendo just take the cake. Thankfully ive been on the sidelines for the past 25 years watching it happen in front of my eyes. I bought their consoles up until the GC. I would have bought the Wii if it were 720HD+, but that baby step crap went too far with me so I never bought into it. I would have only bought about 5 games for it thus far anyway.

So I've been saying FU Nintendo for about 4 or 5 years now. I don't care about Nintendo products anymore.

Nintendo just take the cake.
How exactly? since the Wii came out there's been 1 minor cost reduced revision, in that same time frame we've seen 1 major revision of the PS3, 1 major revision of the 360 and several minor revisions.

Same with the DS, we had DS, DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL, (for the grannies to play Suduko on). How many PSP's were there? Original, Slim and lite, 3000, cost reduced one with no wifi, PSP Go?

Why exactly are you singling Nintendo out as "taking the cake" here?
Don't ever look up Dyson cleaners and their fans, you might get a shock.
I was moaning about Dyson vacs to some male friends, about how I could not buy filters for mine any more because the model was discontinued, all three of them looked at me and said "You're supposed to buy new filters?!"

I think the major gripe is that they were adamant that a second thumbstick was not necessary, but it appears now they have given in to pressure from consumers, press and developers (basically everyone) and admitted they were wrong.

Especially after not including one on the DS at all, and then only including one on the 3DS, at least now they finally understand why it's necessary. And that is, if you're using your finger or a stylus on the touchscreen to control the camera, you lose the use of half of the buttons. And having to hold the unit and operate the left analog stick with a single hand causes a great deal of strain and unnecessary fatigue, and gives you access to only one button (the left shoulder), which severely limits developers and necessitates stupid things like swipes, double-taps, circles, etc on the touchscreen which personally I find inaccurate and frustrating.

Reminds me a lot of the Sony PS3 force-feedback debacle. It's just shitty that the early adopters are the ones who are always punished in these cases.

Oh Wii Motion Plus is another good example.

Perhaps its my perception or the perception of the marketing company that each baby step Nintendo makes is supposed to make the previous model obsolete. I still have 3 60GB PS3's (all working), I bought the original PSP and made do with it until I sold it.

Now, if you look at the Nintendo commercials the words "ONLY ON Nintendo 3DS" appear. That signifies your old model is shit and you need to upgrade. It signifies your system is no longer supported as the main supported machine and you probably only bought it 6 months before the 3DS came out. When the next machine comes out it will be the same.

But even where compatibility is assured, the amount of releases of just colors and minis, special editions is alarming. But my main gripe is that the power of the machines Nintendo release are not significant enough from machine to machine. They rework and tweak old hardware designs, rewrap something that you have 80% of before and sell it to you again. And you lap it up.

Yeah the original DS from 2004 can only play what, all the DS games apart from the 3DS ones? Damn you evil Nintendo making your almost 8 year old hardware obsolete so quickly!

Circle pad pro is pretty crap though, but I've not encountered any games that really need it yet.

I believe all the games that currently support it are Monster Hunter 3G, Snake Eater 3D, and Kid Icarus Uprising.

8 years went past.. and the 3DS is the best they could muster up in all that time?

In the console world we went from PS2 to PS3 in less than 8 years.

I suppose your very easily pleased. I am happy for you. At least they still make traditional games for the 3DS, which I applaud over phone and ipad gaming.

Heh, that is a good point. I guess the years are getting shorter as we're getting older.

You know what's also getting shorter? The list of games for these systems that I actually care to play (at least out of the ones I know about). There were more than plenty duds on the GBA though. Speaking of which, the GBA got replaced after only about three years (2001-2004), although it seemed to get a ton of traditional games. Blah, styluses. Stylii? Style-less games.

Really only 3 years? And they still managed to put out at least 3 different versions of it ... more if you count the various GameBoy Player attachements.

I don't recall multiple Game Boy Player versions (aside from different colors, that is), but I can think of at least three different GBAs:

GBA
GBA SP
GBA Micro
GBA SP "New Brighter Screen!" (I have one or two of these still)

Of course there were a shitload of special versions that I'm not counting, like the NZ All Blacks GBA and the Famicom mini version or its NES counterpart, etc., and probably a billion Poke Mans versions too.

If Nintendo put on a table all of its versions of gameboy players right through to the current 3DS it could open a museum.

The problem is probably that the software is so good straight out of the gate that nobody can make it better by that much afterwards. Although I am not an expert on my own statement. I do know that Mariokart DS was supposed to be superb. So once your market has bought MKDS, where do you go from there? Re-arrange the hardware?

I gave up on nintendo long ago, great for the masses, but a tiresome bore for the actual gamer. The hardware iterations got beyond stupid in the end also. And their arrogance, reggie on youtube saying 'if you haven't got a 3DS yet - what's wrong with you?'

Well, reggie, I know theres going to be another one just around the corner, that's what's wrong with me.

Really seems a lot of people just hate on Nintendo because its the 'cool hip gamer' thing to do at the moment.. "Yeah, Nintendo, they abandoned us to party games!" when in actual fact Nintendo kept putting out core games even when it might have been more profitable to just churn out another Wii Sports clone. It was Sony that got this last generation now anything Nintendo do is berated by some... I mean we've basically had "Too many versions of the DS! My hardware is obsolete too quickly" and "Not enough updates to the DS OMG Nintendo is so lame" in the same thread.

A gameboy player is a plugin adapter for a game console (TV variety) that allows the playing of gameboy cartridge on the TV?

There was the Super GameBoy for the SNES that played GB and GBC games, and the GameBoy Player for the Gamecube that also played GBA ... why do I think there was a third similar device I'm forgetting?

The Game Boy Player properly refers only to the Game Boy Advance-compatible device that screws into the base of a GameCube. The others are (you can read the labels) the Super Game Boy (for the SNES) and (rarely) the Wide Boy (for the N64, a rare device with Game Boy Color compatibility, I believe).
