Some Treasure News

Post by ill6 »

Also in this months Edge is a couple of bits of info from Treasure. I could not see this posted anywhere else...

- They are working on a Type X game - this is not RSG 3.
- This is implied by them saying they have plans for RSG 3 but do not know if they should do it / there is the need to do it.
- They said that Gradius V was originally a Coin Op release so thats the reason why it seems they have been away for a while.

I will type in the relevent bits if anyone cares.

Thanks, that's hot news, but does Treasure still have the magic to make innovative AND fun games? And for all we know, that Type X game could just be another weird 3D action game...

This could be Ikaruga 2. Treasure said in some interview they were considering it. They don't do sequels usually, but this would be a nice exception. Ikaruga 2 wouldn't technically be Project RSG3, it would be Project RSG2-2.

But, I have a strong feeling this is just wishful thinking and their Type X game will be something completely different. I'm looking forward to Treasure's announcement in the near future! :D

Since Type X is arcade hardware, I'd assume they'd be working on an arcade-oriented game? ie: not a weird 3D action game (ie: stretch panic, wario world), most likely.

is it true that Treasure is DEVELOPING the fighting game based on the anime, Bleach? If so, they'd better inject it with some Treasure magic, lest they want to fall from grace into the hell of making shitty licensed games... But, since it's freakin' Treasure, i'm hopeful. ^^;

Sure plays like one.

Would have been awesome to play it in an arcade though.

I'm actually quite interested in the Bleach DS game. Have you seen the screenshots? It looks like it might play like their YuYu Hakusho game on Genesis. If it's anywhere near as awesome as that game, it might be worth looking in to.

Um, how would they do that? Didn't they sort of kill off everyone at the end of the last one?

Metempsychosis literally means "transmigration of soul". Perhaps Shinra and Kagari are piloting ghost hitekkai and shooting mofos in the afterlife?

The idea of an Ikaruga sequel does seem farfeched.

Project RS3 - I'm sure - is going to be an indirect continuation, just like Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga.

The only relation they have is the Stone-Like object, strangely enough - the Stone-Like object seems to be the primary focus and the cause of things.

You can take the ending anyway you want...but with Metempyshchosis, and then during the credits you see Ikaruga flying free...

Meh, move that shit to Linbergh, Treasure.

Well here's hoping we get a home port. I hate not being able to play a Treasure game. I wonder if there's a way to mod a PC to play TypeX...

I personally don't want Cave to develop on Type-X, I like what they are doing on their current hardware

It does say the arcade team are developing a game for Type-X in the interview. It could be a couple of months old though.

There's a big interview with Cyan talking about their future after Myst V and they just laid off all their staff last week. Can't expect a magazine to be that up to date.

Ibara is on custom CAVE hardware. Same with Mushihime and I assume ESPGaluda II.

DoDonpachi DOJ
Ketsui
ESPGaluda

Those three only, are on the PGM based hardware.
