Played Zetsu for a couple of days, too. Pretty hectic after Arcade mode. A fun mode, but I think this is going to be it for a while :)

Akai Katana Zetsu
deexor - 701,090,119 - ALL - Type 1

Replay on live again

Edit - might as well put up the best Shin score too

Akai Katana Shin
deexor - 681,965,904 - ALL (True) - Type 1

Arcade
iconoclast - 369,215,790 - ALL - Type 3

Been working on this for a few days. Now I'm #5 overall and #2 with Type C on the leaderboards. :D

I messed up stage 2 pretty badly in this run (cost me 5-7 million), but overall I'm really happy with it. Don't think I can do too much better than this with my current strategies. edit: I put my replay up on youtube.

It really is a great score, congrats! I was thinking of trying for the top spot, my current routes could get me in the 320-330 M region, but this is way too much :)

I checked the replay, the stage 2 hit was a bummer. Overall a very good run though. There might be some room for improvement on late stage 4, maybe on the second half of stage 5?

How does rank work? More lives in stock = more bullets and suicide bullets? The difference is really noticeable on the last life, but is it there on every life?

Also, to stay on topic:

Pretty sure that's the gist of it. I wouldn't want to enter stage 5 with anything less than 3 lives, because enemies just don't shoot enough bullets at that point (and even with 3 lives, it still feels pretty light). I don't think there's much of a difference between having 4 lives and 5 lives in stock though, so I suicide on stage 1 for the extra meter (but I'm still not sure if that's worth doing).

And yeah, I messed up the final bit of stage 4. I normally have the lowest scoring stage 4 out of everyone in the top 10 though, so I guess it still went a little better than it usually does. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong on that stage. :|

I still find stage 5 a little hectic as well. The two tanks at the end screw me up a lot, but overall I think I did pretty well on that run with 90 something million - I usually average 85 or so. I'm sure it could be better though, especially since I kinda screwed up the section after the mid-boss.

OK, I'm used to Shin Mode...

But I'm guessing that I have to collect energy, swap to ninja, use the ninja laser to tag enemies and gather gold.

Switch back, collect gold, repeat.

But I'm missing a step - hit stage 4 with only 16m

Anyone offer any tips?

1. Gather green orbs. That will charge your ninja energy bar.
2. Gather blue orbs. That will charge the circle around your ship.
3. Go into ninja mode.
4. Line up enemies and their bullets, and shoot daggers at them. The daggers will return as katanas.
5. Line up enemies and their bullets, and exit ninja mode to shoot katanas at them. Follow the katanas at close range to pick up gold at its maximum size.

Unfortunately it's been a while since I last played the demo, so I forgot what shot corresponds to any particular action, but you should be able to figure it out. And watch replays for reference.

You're talking about Shin mode, correct?

I meant arcade mode.

You have to wait for the gold to max out in value before switching back to plane form.

Updated. Could anybody give me a heads up on the current #1 scores on the leaderboards for each character?

Only change is for Zetsu Type B: kogeruntai - 1,520,246,999

Also, new Arcade score for me:
iconoclast - 251,456,442 - ALL - Type 1

Think I'll go for 300m with him, though I'm not sure if I'll make it.

Took a break from Diablo to try and get this out of the way. I screwed up stage 4 really badly in this run, and of course I made a ton of other mistakes all over the place, so I think I should be able to get 320-330m for sure.

Got mostly the run I was after, save for missing on stage 3 (lost 6-7 million) and losing a couple of scoring opportunities after the miboss. Still need to figure out a proper route for early stage 4 and how to get the recharges after the midboss.

God damn, Type B is hard to use in arcade mode. I only died once in this run (on stage 5), which was planned so I could refill my bombs & continue abusing the laser refill. I got greedy at the end too - instead of suiciding on the stage 5 boss to ensure an easy stage 6, I said screw it and went into him with 90% red health and only one bomb. I would have been mad as hell if I died, but thankfully it went pretty much perfectly.

Hilariously, I'm 3rd place on the US all ships leaderboard for Zetsu. I'm only learning the game, not playing for score yet. Anyone else playing Zetsu on the US version?
