I'm mostly a survivalist/1ccer myself. There's only a handful of games I know the strategies for scoring, and even fewer I'm actually competent playing with regards to getting decent scores.
I dunno I'm kind of torn between score player and survivalist. I primarily play games for the clear at the moment, but I always try to be scoring to my fullest potential when I do get the clear. I'll restart from stupid scoring mistakes but past a certain point in a given game I'll shift my focus more to survival. I guess I'm a score player but still working on my skills to get myself to a competitive level? So that makes me a survivalist? I don't even know I'm not gonna vote, gonna get this DOJ st1 chain sorted out.
1CC ListTo miss is human; to rank control, divine.
While I understand that this is (mostly) a joke poll, it really scares me to think that some people believe that purely because they own PCBs they are better STG players than everyone else. Even if these people let their pcbs collect dust after they credit feed through it once just to look at the pre renders that they call hand drawn pixel art on their youtube reviews which are more about the boxing than the contents.
I credit feed until I've seen the end of the game or looped the game, or I've run out of a specified limit of credits--I just can't claim I've legitmately beaten the game unless it's designed as a multicredit game. Smash TV (arena shooter), 47 credits to finish the entire game? No problem, I just haven't beaten it on a single credit so I can't really claim I've beaten the game. G-Darius took me 7 credits to get to Accordion Hazard zone V' and then it took another 6 credits to beat Accordion Hazard? Again, no problem, I just haven't beaten that on a single credit either.
Then I try for the 1cc, maybe if necessary dropping from Normal to Easy (or in the case of Gradius V, I'm trying for the 1cc starting all the way back at Very Easy.)
I'm mainly a survivalist that will attempt to beat my own scores and will buy a PCB if it's not that terrible a price. I don't 1CC much but I always at least try.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

Take a look at the high score board at arcadeotaku.com. Tells you all you need to know about this PCB player=pro myth.
