The only part I found more or a chore than fun was the lasers on stage 5 :|

I don't mind the ones on stage 4 but the merry-go-round lasers on stage 5 I completely hate. They are the worst part of the game in my opinion. Cave put them on a t-shirt...

The laser speed is fine, you can see them coming a mile off unless you're actually sitting on a laser cannon or something. Stage 5 is hard of course, and you're expected to memorize that if you want to do well in it, much like most other difficult shmup stages. It's pretty silly to complain about memorization in a Pachi game when the main score mechanic is stage-long chains, too. :P

Also, it's perfectly possible to do the laser wheels without bombs or hypers once you learn how to deal with them. It's actually one of the easier spots in the stage if you want to chain it. They're a little frustrating at first but so much fun once you get to grips with them.

And this is simply stupid. Especially since doing the part without bombs/hypers is basic stuff when chaining the stage properly.

The lasers through out the whole game are nothing worth mentioning, as said before you can see them a mile off and there's nothing wrong with the speed. They're easy to counter 99% of the time. It's that 2 minute long merry go round in stage 5 that is a little over the top, and that's the part that alway killed my runs.

Not much to explain, they just randomly come from some canceled bullets in the second loop (meaning also BL Strong) and higher hyper rank means more of them. There are many Japanese clear replays but I don't think anyone here has really played BL Strong very much.

Also I didn't know you were talking of BL laser rings. In that game you should just abuse the manual hyper canceling to get through hard parts during the short invulnerability you get. There's not really a reason to avoid hypering there in BL since the game even encourages that.

I haven't played Black Label in a while but I don't remember anything being more difficult to spot, although some stage backgrounds do use different palettes at points (such as green instead of pink during the 5th boss fight).

Regarding the suicide bullets, they appear during both second loops, and there'll be more of them depending on how high your hyper rank is. Aside from that they follow normal bullet rules, I think.

Whenever you hyper, you'll see a number appear on top of your ship. That's the hyper rank, and it goes up by one every time you use a hyper, maxing out at 5. In 1.5 at least, the rank during a hyper dictates the bullet speed, enemy fire rate, how hard it is to cancel bullets, how many danger lasers show up, that kind of thing. It decreases to minimum after each first loop stage, halves between stages during the Omote loop, and only drops by one during the Ura loop. I'm not really sure how BL changes things but I suspect it's similar.

well they are definitely a pain in the ass to be honest and very frustrating. especially
after 4 stages that are very moddest in comparison and very doable with all those bombs
and hypers.

as for the console version that's not really a matter with training mode but i could see
myself swearing at them a lot playing it in a cab.

The hyper rank works the same in BL with Strong using the second loop rules (Omote at first and changing into Ura if you enter the secret route). Danger lasers only appear in BL with high rank Strong, and generally you don't have to mind the rank much in that game, since unlike 1.5, your cancel power never drops dangerously low (except with C maybe).

It's short, but it's just long enough to slip through one ring of the laser cannons safely. Always remember you can cancel your hypers at will in BL by pressing the hyper button again, and this also gives you little invulnerability time.

I still havnt gotten used to the laser blocking mechanic as its different for each ship. Edit plus possibly each mode aswell. A few times ive moved into a laser expecting to be ok, but then I autobomb

As for the st5 layzors of death, the section where the screen is scrolling down is toughest for me as im inbetween charging hypers

I think it sucks, they should be maybe 2 times slower, now you have to memorize them. Stage 4 is a mess, and all of my friends ragequit as soon as they get hit by one laser.

I love it. But then again, I like bullet absorb/reflect mechanics-- I tend to not enjoy straight-ahead manics very much.

I always thought that on the screen with the emitter you don't die/bomb on the screen with the extend that drops the extend the emitter always will?
