Can 360 DLC files be transferred to flash drives?
I have a legit J360 (and US360) and legit Cave games. I was wondering if there were an easy and/or hard way to copy my DLC to flash drive so I don't have to worry about losing it should Xbox Live go down or something ridiculous dick with my 360. When mine red-ringed, for example, I couldn't access Geometry Wars and SOTN, even though I followed Microsoft's instructions.
Mushi 1.5 looks amazing and I'd be extremely sad to lose it, and I know I'd weep bitter tears if I ever lost Futari Black Label.
So, is there any way to back up these files, particularly on a non-Jtag/non-modded 360? One I wonder about in particular is DOJ BLEX's patch. I looked in my files, and I don't see it anywhere, even though I know I downloaded it. I assume I'd have to Jtag my system to use them, but it'd be a last resort once XBL is down and the files are inaccessible.

Okay, so I can't even back them up unless I have a Jtagged system? Balls to that.

I'm pretty sure you can save dlc to an external drive (i only have a 4gb 460 so save dlc and stuff to my external often). Game patches cannot be though.

Yep. Anything that you can access from the 360's Memory screen can be moved between a Harddrive, a USB Flash Memory Stick or a 360 Memory Card (if you're using an original model). Go look at the game save folder on your harddrive and you'll see each component (DLC, main saves, replays, etc) as individual files that can be moved. But most save files can not be duplicated or copy/pasted between multiple save devices.AntiFritz wrote:I'm pretty sure you can save dlc to an external drive (i only have a 4gb 460 so save dlc and stuff to my external often). Well, it would be the duplication that'd be important, I think :\

From what I read, I think he's saying only save files have the issue of not being able to be moved. So I think he's saying DLC and the like can be moved to a different hard drive, because after all you need your account to unlock it.

Right, but he was saying DLC can't be duplicated, which eliminates the purpose, imo. If I save them to an external hard drive and it fails, that's just as bad as my 360 failing. Granted, I have no idea how they'd stop you from duplicating something that's on a hard drive or flash drive...
Although I guess I'd just need the 360 hard drive to not fail, which sounds a lot safer than needing the junky console itself to stay functional.

If your files become corrupted, say a harddrive failure, when you replace the drive you can download everything again from the download history tab. Considering that MS have now unified Live between Windows, XBox and WindowsPhone, I seriously doubt the service is going anywhere in the foreseeable future (not to mention that Live is an extremely profitable revenue stream for MS). I would be more concerned with your actual game save files becoming corrupted than simple DLC components which can be re-downloaded at any time.Special World wrote:Right, but he was saying DLC can't be duplicated, which eliminates the purpose, imo. I know, I'm just thinking long-term. I'm probably (definitely) being over-worried about this. I guess I can take action if I ever learn that the service is going down.

I think it's a legit concern with regards to having access at all times to stuff you paid for and then not having access to it as a result of the s***** product m$ puts outSpecial World wrote:I know, I'm just thinking long-term.
