Resident Evil 1 remake coming to DS
Alright, enough. Get back on topic.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I didn't think he was THAT sensitive.
Listen. I didn't mean that ALL of the DS games are LITERALLY rehashes. I MEANT that a lot of them ARE and that I DON'T LIKE THAT.
Get over it.
Also, I still can't get over the blood wiping on this "new" RE game. It's still one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. I bet a 9 year old would think that it's really neat, though!

Yep, So far I feel that the touch screen is nothing but a novely and simply takes away from the gaming experience. A real shame that Nintendo always digs their own grave. Snes was the last good Nintendo system, and that's only because they allowed virtually any third party support they could get. Now that they are a "family" company they only allow their new baby versions of mario and donkey kong. It's funny, I was a kid when I had my Snes and I loved it. The kids today loved the PS1/PS2. Lol, and why do you think that is? When it came down to Nintendo's previous success it was because of games, NOT because of games exclusively developed by Nintendo.

Hail Atlantis!

I wasn't saying the touch screen was worthless. Advance Wars: Duel Strike, Nintendogs, Meteos, Feel the Magic, Kirby: Canvas Curse, Yoshi's Touch N Go, Pac Pix, and several other games really show off its innovativeness. But just slapping touch screen stuff in a game thats just annoying (i.e. having to wipe the screen of blood) is just stupid.

You've gotta be fuckin' kiddin' me? How is that an innovative use of touch screen technology?jp wrote:"One screenshot shows Chris fighting against zombies, except that parts of the screen are masked with blood and are not viewable. The player can apparently wipe the blood off the screen by stroking on the touch screen."

Goddamn it, Nintendo. Your product has left a bitter film of taste in my mouth that won't go away after downing a can of Pabst. I was promised "revolutionary" and "innovative" use of a handheld device with "fresh" and "original" games taking advantage of the touch screen technology, NOT A SYSTEM FULL OF FUCKING REHASHED FRANCHISE, YOU UTTER CUMRAGS.
It's no wonder that my Nintendo DS has been sitting in my closet for the past 6 months, and would like to trade it off to someone who wants it for Nintendogs.
P.S. No, I don't care about Kirby games, Advance Wars games, Wario games, or Yoshi games... I don't give a shit about those games, really.

Damn, this is one furious thread!
"OK, we're going to put Resident Evil out on the DS."
"We can't! Nobody will stand for that old crap!"
"Yes we can, DS owners are desperate for a game that makes them feel their purchase was worthy."
"OK, you sold me. One thing though - what should we put on the innovation screen?"
"I dunno, why do we always have to use that shit?"
"Because everyone else does."
"Oh, yeah. Let people wipe blood off the main screen with it or something, who cares?"
The best and worst feature of the DS. They could have used it for a self drawing map instead.

Smart move then. Buying a gimmicky Nintendo handheld. Your anger is eclipsed only by your foresight.ArrogantBastard wrote:P.S. No, I don't care about Kirby games, Advance Wars games, Wario games, or Yoshi games... I don't give a shit about those games, really.

I'm editing this post because I'm hoping that this stupid thread will go away and I do NOT want to give a certain someone any encouragement by bumping it. Anyways, sorry for being presumptuous ArrogantBastard

FYI, after AB's post it starts to get hella Castlevania IV in here. Good going sethsez, see what you do to him? I hope it's over with.

I recieved my Nintendo DS as a gift. Never asked for one.PaCrappa wrote:Smart move then. Buying a gimmicky Nintendo handheld. Your anger is eclipsed only by your foresight.

I know I should enjoy it since it's a gift, but I hardly get any enjoyment out of it. The only time I ever play it is when I'm in the mood to play the Classic NES Zelda or Zelda: Minish Cap. And that's like once in every blue moon.
Ha.
Looks like Nintendo lost their brainwashing grip on me. I sold my DS so I could use the money for PC parts. At first I thought the DS was great, but the damn thing kept giving me cramps and it was too big to really carry around. Plus, all I ever really played on it was GBA games anyway. No, I am not going to tell you guys how much it sold for.sethsez wrote:Okay, I dislike Nintendo's current direction as much as anyone, but can I just point out the stupidity of saying this in a thread about Resident Evil?ResOGlas wrote:Now that they are a "family" company they only allow their new baby versions of mario and donkey kong.
Oh, Nintendo, what has happened to you? You've captured my heart as a child but now you've lost your magic......hopefully the Revolution will rekindle that magic. (or maybe not....I'm building a PC and that'll take care of my emulation needs! Ha!)
Shmups: It's all about blowing stuff up!
BUHA, I'm sorry I misunderstood your post, but I still don't think the DS is the rehash system.
PaCrappa, your posts are harassment and I don't appricate your scarastic comments. I know you are trying to stop a flame war, but your posts aren't helping. In fact, they hurt a lot, especially since I'm not lying.
IMO, the DS doesn't really have too many rehashes, which it was I was trying to point out by comparing it's lineup to the PSP lineup, which has a ton of rehashes. The number of rehashes has nothing to do with how good a system is and I actually rather like rehashes. I was not trying to start a DS vs. PSP war and I find it insulting that someone would even make such a suggestion. Neon, I was not denouncing either system. In fact, I tried to keep the discussion solely focused on rehashes, not on how good either system is or how good the games are.
Again, I was just trying to point out that the DS doesn't have many rehashes. The only rehashes I can think of on the DS are Rayman DS, Super Mario 64 DS, Wario Ware, Mr. Driller Drill Spirits, Spider-Man 2 (a port of a GBA and N-Gage game?), and Ridge Racer (which is done much better on the PSP). Advance Wars could be a rehash, but, from what I heard, it still has some cool new stuff and plenty of cool old stuff too. There are a ton of GBA ports on the DS, though (don't know if these count as rehashes, but many of them come out at the same time as the GBA versions). Still, I heard that SM64 DS does have enough new to make it worth playing. All systems get rehashes, so I think it's a bit unfair to say that the DS has mostly rehashes since the system just came out and it has some very inventive games.
The DS has Meteos, Pac-Pix, Kirby Canvus Curse, Polarium, Yoshi Touch 'n Go, all games that make inventive and fun use of the touch screen. If you think they are rehashs, why not try to prove it? Pac-Pix is the only game where you try to draw Pac-Man and draw lines to lead him into ghosts. Both Kirby Canvus Curse and Yoshi Touch 'n Go involve drawing lines to guide characters, but Kirby is more of a full fledge platformer and Yoshi Touch 'n Go is more arcade like. Polarium involves trying to solve a puzzle by drawing only one line (not to sure about this one, but the concept sounds original), Meteos has familiar elements from other puzzle games, but, like Lumines, feels completely new due to clever design. I can't think of any other puzzle game where ships come to take away the pieces.
The n00b, whether you believe me or not, your post was off topic. I would like to let you know that I read about games and play them before I decide if I like them or not, no matter who the developer is. BTW, accusing me of lying is prevoking me, so you should be the one cutting it out, not me.
Back on topic. So what exactly does Capcom releasing another remake of the first RE on DS do to insite such a riot? Capcom would probably have done another remake anyway reguardless of system. What I'm really confused with is exactly why people are suggesting that the DS Resident Evil is the exact same game as the original PSX version. It's not. It doesn't have prerendered backgrounds, it has new character models, and it will have new features that use the DS touch screen. I'm skeptical about that blood splashing thing, but any changes to the combat are welcome IMO. The DS RE may very well end up being a disappointment, but it's failure will be becuase of Capcom, not the DS.

What riot? People were just saying it seems like a stupid idea. This isn't a riot, just like when a few people not liking CVIV way back when didn't indicate that the entire board thought it sucked.BrianC wrote:So what exactly does Capcom releasing another remake of the first RE on DS do to insite such a riot?
And I agree with most people here, it seems like a stupid idea. I don't care what changes they make, we've explored that mansion, we know Wesker's the bad guy, there's just not much else to do here. If they wanted to make a side story, fine, but this just reeks of cashing in, no matter how much they change it. It's not even an upgrade from the last remake, which is a couple years old.
The less mentioned about that CVIV incident, the better. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't want something like that happening again. I know that not everyone on this board thinks CVIV sucks and that was stupid of me to think that, if I did think that before. However, the negative impressions of Resident Evil DS are not what I'm referring to as a riot. Seriously, Resident Evil is made by Capcom, but Nintendo gets the blame instead.sethsez wrote:What riot? And what's in bold is not on topic? BTW, sethsez, I was referring to the posts dissing the DS and complaining about rehashes on the DS as a "riot" too. And then there's that lame argument that started over me trying to prove that the DS isn't the rehash system. BTW, though I was trying to prove that it isn't exactly the same as the first game, I wasn't trying to prove that Resident Evil DS isn't a rehash. It's very likely that it is, but, IMO, it's too early to tell. But Capcom is the rehash king, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was. At least with Phoenix Wright, the game is coming to the US for the first time.Neon wrote:BrianC wrote:BUHA, I'm sorry I misunderstood your post, but I still don't think the DS is the rehash system.
