I know that the quality of the various board revisions varies widely, but can *ANY* AES unit be modded to the best possible RGB quality ?

Additional audio question:

to get Stereo line audio from the DIN8 port, do you have to get the signal from the 3.5mm headphone port or is there a way to get line-level stereo before that. On the Mega Drive/Genesis the audio taken from the headphone jack has rather mediocre quality and the internals only provide an amp for a single channel, so you have to add a 2nd OP amp to get proper (and good) stereo.
