This is so awesome. VF5FS and GGAC+ pretty much own this year, as far as fighting games go. High quality games with high quality netcode!
Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
Sweet. Finally I'll have GG for a system that I have an Arcade Stick for.
Look at our friendly members:

Always wanted to try GG. I've toyed with getting the Wii/PS2 version before but this is perfect.

Am coming out of retirement, I guess

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
Let this announcement not overshadow the fact that Blazblue CS Extend was released two days ago. Relius is an amazingly great new character, enough to carry much of the $40 price tag by himself.
Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
That's great news. I haven't played GG since #Reload. Hopefully the local scene will pla... lol. Forget it.

I know you're only joking but in all seriousness FUCK BoringBlue.
Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
Guilty Gear with online and Skullgirls mean this generation has done some good for fighting games.

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
I'm cautiously curious to see how this turns out... Blazblue itself is pretty moribund in most places, and I guess Guilty Gear stands a slightly better chance than VF5 to build a scene if nothing else (or even Skullgirls... so many games on XBL/PSN)

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
Someone didn't watch the incredible last EVO showing of CS. A real shame it's not coming back this year.Casper<3 wrote:I know you're only joking but in all seriousness FUCK BoringBlue.
The game is only as boring as you make it. I wouldn't argue it's superior to GGXX, but it's a completely worthy successor. And regardless of your opinion on the matter, I can't think of another fighting game where every character has a unique gimmick mechanic.

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
The only amusing thing that BB provided EVO last year
Guilty was huge at last years EVO. Over 100 competitors, including RF.

lol
Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
BB moves at half the speed of GG, has almost every in depth mechanic removed and has very little freedom in the combo system. The game is flat out boring. I have a theory that the only people that think BB is a good game are those that it was the first fighter they took serious. If you have any background in fighting games, you can see after playing it for a day or two just how shallow it is. They took out so many things, outside is GG's shell, inside is a flop of flimsy watered down jello.
Not taking anything away to MikeZ but... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onaTDnnZ8SU
BTW if it was a worthy successor (which it's not) why don't GG players play it? You have more GG players (like RF, Nemo, Dogura, Tokido even) playing SF4 than you have playing BB. (H.H, and ummm umm Kaqn...maybe MSY. I think he gave it up after CT though)

BlazBlue is to Accent Core what Super Street Fighter IV is to Super Turbo. A slower, dumbed down, boring game.Estebang wrote:The game is only as boring as you make it.

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
I'm probably going to learn a new character whenever this comes out. I've forgotten all of my Axl combos.

lol
Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
Most of the gimmicks/drives are just watered down versions of Guilty Gear characters moves with some exceptions, such as the tedious and impossible to balance Curse.
I used to play Guilty Gear but it was impossible to travel down to London in a hope that both someone was there and the cabinet was working. I have never tried to like a game as much as I have tried to like BlazBlue. I tolerated the whole of BBCT, I played BBCS at tournaments and did pretty well while I was travelling around Japan, but when they did all the same mistakes in BBCS2 I had to throw in the towel. I’m certainly not going to buy a limited edition version of a one character update (something even Capcom wouldn’t pull).
Anyway, this thread isn’t about BB. I don't think this game will get much mainstream attention, as it will be released with little fanfare, but as long as there are people to play I'll be happy.

A better comparison would be Samurai Showdown to Last Blade...
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
I can't help but feel like the online community for this game will be dead within a couple months. It seems like pretty much every downloadable fighting game so far hasn't had any staying power, aside from HD Remix (which slowly died off when SF4 came out). I guess it's because they're all old games, so the community has already moved on to their successors. Then again, this is still the newest GG, so maybe it'll be different this time.
Whatever, I'm just rambling.

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
Well the thing is that Guilty Gear is a HUGE time investment. Not everyone will want to give up so easily when they have put so much into it. You can typically pick up a character and become fairly decent with them within a week or so in other franchises. (AH, MB, SF, BB) In GG you just can't. You might be able to learn a combo or two in a day but to learn the system mechanics, your characters mechanics, and how each apply take quite a while. Besides in GG many combos can be freestyled so you have to learn your options for every portion of your combo. (as well as how to adjust your combos based on your opponents weight and hitbox)iconoclast wrote:I can't help but feel like the online community for this game will be dead within a couple months. Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
This is the best news I've heard in a long time.
The community in this game will be strong. Most people that played GG and moved to BB will move back to GG anyway. Guilty Gear is pretty much superior to BB in every damn way.
Can't wait to rape people in this game again.

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
Last Blade's only saving grace were its graphics. The first is a sluggish, plain game that discarded most of what was worth in Samurai Shodown (the mobility options and weapon mechanics), and the second is a buggy, infinite ridden mess.Blade wrote:A better comparison would be Samurai Showdown to Last Blade...
If you were trying to defend BB with that statement, I think it didn't work that well.

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
It's really hard to give an example of GG to BB. I mean I can't really think of a game that pretty much copied another game's mechanic, but stripped it down to make the gameplay more sluggish and boring, while adding a mechanic that completely ruined the concept of what the original gameplay was about.
SF2 to SF4 is kind of like that, but SF4 did add a lot of it's own little quirks(It really doesn't seem comparable to SFII), so I wouldn't say it's the best analogy.
Well whatever, everyone already knows GG > BB, the only people that think otherwise are the ones that never really played GG, or the ones that play these games for the "lol" story.

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
SFIV kind of tries to "go back to its roots" (compared to SF3, which removed a lot of SF fundamentals with parrying), but everything it adds is there to dumb the game down. Lower damage, lower speed, crap throws, crap jumps, lower execution barrier, rewards for getting hit (ultras), etc. Focus wouldn't be too bad if it had high/low versions, but in any case is still a gimmick.DragonInstall wrote:SF2 to SF4 is kind of like that, but SF4 did add a lot of it's own little quirks(It really doesn't seem comparable to SFII), so I wouldn't say it's the best analogy.
BB is kind of like that too: it takes away from execution (no FRCs, for starters), has incredibly crappy throws compared to AC's beastly ones, is definitely slower and damage is generally lower.
Both are supposedly designed like that to sell to a wider audience, not realizing that those changes fly over the casual's heads and the games would sell the same if they weren't so dumbed down.
Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
I don't get all the hate for BB.
Granted I never played this GG game.. but BB is very fast (I can't keep up with the combos), you guys are saying GG is even faster??
BB looks awesome too while GG is a bit bland.
FRCs what the hell are those??
If GG is so damn good why did they stop making it and now making BB ??

Because they lost the license to it.
That said, Mori considers BB near and dear to him, so they won't forget it about it, even with GG's return.
I always enjoyed GG, but I was terrible at it. BB is a game I love, and can actually play competitively, so I'll always be into both games.
The divide between the communities is kind of sad.

Arc System has since bought back the rights to GG from Sega, so they're free to do what they want with it in the future. The first step being the AC+ rerelease.

Re: Guilty Gear Accent Core coming to XBLA/PSN
BB is slow.. very slow.
FRC is like an RC but you're only allowed to cancel at specific frames in moves and it takes 1/4 meter. Also it's a blue color ring rather than the red. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGsbB0R6Dlg Near the end you'll see Chipp use it a lot.
BB deserves all the hate it gets, because it claimed to be the next GG but it failed horribly. It took such a solid engine and concept, but watered it down completely. Also GG is extremely balanced for what it is. 23 chars are all viable in tournaments and there's only 1 match up that is considered 7 - 3 (Eddie vs Pot) everything else is in the middle.
Many famous GG players went to SF4 / other fighters rather than BB because it was such a huge step back. Think about that for a second...
I played tons of BB when it first came out so I didn't write it off without trying. The game is just too sluggish and boring to get excited for. Many moments when playing or watching GG matches I would get hyped, but in BB no so much.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1HH2KlpY7e8 this kind of hype was always happening in GG in tournaments.
Just for shits and giggles.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEDnrC8-vPM people who kept up with the GG scene knows this famous a-cho announcer.
