@Ed: there's only three stages. Not sure about loops in the original.

Fun trivia: depending on which version of the original Odd Mobs you have, going into the submenus (which reveal the black guy laughing with Yu-Gi-Oh! cards) pressing Down will result in a hidden boss match, with one boss being some Russian-looking guy with about fuck-all health and an easy bulletspam pattern. When he dies, random talking ensues and then it rips off Akai Katana's "TLB" with the freaky background and red glowing, but he shoots absolutely nothing and has a crapload of health.

Going into the submenus erased my scores. Actually, it would be trivial to figure out which of the submenus are safe and which deletes the scores...I'll have a look sometime, thanks!

I actually survived longer, but scored worse, in a play since my last one. I might try to figure out what kind of targeting priorities bring in the coins more quickly, and where I was losing opportunities.

And yeah, I'm just short of Armpit Attack man (seen in the vidya linked in the opening post). Too bad the player got snuffed out at that point.

Submenus erasing scores is news to me. Considering there's only two of them I imagine it'd be easy to figure out - I use the first one in the older build I have to get to the secret TLB but he took the shortcut out in newer versions so chances are it may not work for you anyway.

I really should have another crack at this. Maybe a bit of Odd Mob scoring might be what gets my hunger for gaming back again.

The way I got my score was letting my chain time out wherever I expect to die, because there's almost no penalty for 'cashing in' early, whereas if you get hit you lose the lot. Also yes, the Ikaruga stage is stage 3
