What is really problematic right now is Chinese IP theft...heard tonight that 90% or so of IP theft appears to be originating from there, and has actually brought down companies like Nortel. The content industry just is very good at being loud about their needs and grabbing the attention. I don't think that persecuting domestic IP thieves sucks air or influence away from that problem; if anything it shows that we take it seriously. I do think the two problems are of totally different (potential) magnitudes though, even admitting that it is serious for the Western content people.
The "Serious Organized Crime Agency" WTF? Is that real? Sounds like something a 10-year old came up with. I wonder if any women are employed there, since they are known carriers of "cooties"..?
edit: I wonder if the website was brought down through inter-agency cooperation with the "Bureau of Really Important Stuff"... haha..
