Tried Strikers 1945 II without shooting today. Got midway through level 4. Level 4 gets a bit crowded.

The bosses are much easier than 1999 as they don't have as nasty of a death attack.

Mode7 made a thread like that back in the day, but it basically went unused.

I've done it (no hits in hard mode). It just requires a LOT of memorization, and some good luck in a couple of those rooms on the last level (I hate those morpher bastards).

Yes, I had the game all memorized (And I guess if I play it again those days, all will come back in a flash). It's just that I never really TRIED to do something like that.

There are some critical points. I remember it took me a while to find out how to get past those 2 guards in the beggining of level 2 (The ones messing with Ian) without being hit. There were some parts in Level 3 that were annoying too, there was one single part in level 4 (If I remember correctly, it's the point where you get the teleporter, there's a guard there which is a bitch to hit without getting hit before), and then it's just the morphers in the last level. Everything else is easy after you memorize the game.

Flashback is the 3rd game I most played in my life, with Elite coming in 2nd and Sensible World of Soccer in 1st.

Yeah, there's that part in level 5 that is kind of tricky where you walk on the screen and I believe there's an exploda-mouse and a replicant right there. Also there is one part in level 2 that's kind of tricky; it's in one of the danger zones that you have to teleport to, and there are two mutants stacked vertically; one of them has a land mine right next to him. It's all about judicious use of the force field at points like those.

I've cleared the first round of DoDonPachi one-handed.

SotN is one that begs for different playing goals since it's so great aside from the difficulty. I've beaten it with Richter and on the LUCK and ARMOR etc settings you can do after clearing it, but none of those are of significant challenge.

YEs, it's level 5, not 4. That's exactly the spot I was talking about.

Flashback is all about the force field :)

Fade to Black was one of, if not THE biggest dissapointment of my whole gamer life... I expected so much of it, and it delivered so little...

I dunno, although the controls of Fade to Black are iffy, the game is pretty good and innovative/feature-packed for a first generation 3d title. The first few levels are great IMO, it's just the last part of the game where it begins to fall apart (due to the insane difficulty). Of course, I haven't played it for several years due to the fact that I have the DOS version, and can't get it to run (maybe DOSbox supports it, but I'd bet it's slow... Syndicate Wars sure is). I would have preferred a nice, 32 bit 2d sequel, of course, but the game really isn't bad.

Whatever happened to Delphine, anyway? It seems all they do nowadays is make crappy racing games. A shame, as a lot of their titles were awesome. Out of This World and Flashback were great, of course, but so were their adventure games - Future Wars, Cruise for a Corpse, and Operation Stealth. Operation Stealth in particular was just as good as your average LucasArts or Sierra title, IMO.

I did hear something a while ago about the original creator of OoTW planning a follow-up or something. Anyone know anything about that?

Heh, I just started playing SotN again few days ago. Think I've finished the game four or five times now, including with Richter. There's actually a very interesting "Naked Alucard Challenge"-FAQ on GameFaqs that would certainly be a challenge...
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

A number of years ago there where no WWII, let alone WWI shooters (3D shooters, the devils polygons). So once I completed the original Novalogic Delta Force I decided that I would invent some handicaps for the current Military shooters.

WWI USGI mode: I'd take the bolt gun and try to shoot baddies without the scope and I'd also use the .45 Automatic

WWII USGI mode: I'd take the 10-shot semi-auto sniper rifle and .45 Automatic

One other insanely hard mode I came up with was...

Navy Seals mode: MP5SD silenced subgun, and .22 H&R silenced pistol

That mode is hard as hell on Military shooters. Gotta get up close... Now here's a hard handicap you could implement, beat flying shark using no powerups.

I remember back at the day, when someone asked me "Whats your top 5 developers" , Delphine was always in the list... now I always forget them.

Dont forget they did... SHAQ FU!

Fade to Black controls are AWFUL. I think it could be a nice game if I COULD CONTROL CONRAD PROPERLY... I have the PSX version, and used to play a Warez PC version.. both suck.

The Motoracer series is cool as hell IMO, but I really would like to see more stuff from them. Both Another World and Flashback are 2 of the most amazing stuff ever to happen to the gaming industry, and Heart of Alien was also incredibly amazing (Shame its so badly known). Point and click adventures are not my cup of tea, but I remember enjoying Future Wars back in the day.

Well, I'm not as 1337 as you guys.

But, I am attempting a 1% run of Metroid Fusion. It's going relatively well.

And then, John was a zombie.
