Re: PS Vita Western Launch
Being the group of gamers who live and breath 2d here im surprised no ones mentioned Dragons crown on the system either which is the other main reason why I really really want one also I saw a video of a ps3 game running on the system which was quite intruiging

People seem to forget that Dragon's Crown is also a PS3 game.
Re: PS Vita Western Launch
Yes but people seem to forget its a ps3 game essentially on a handheld

Re: PS Vita Western Launch
The point was that people with a PS3 won't need to buy a new system for it, and online multiplayer is cross-platform anyway.

I think Gamestop's giving out some of its pre-orders next week as well...IIRC it's only the "bundle" reserves though, the "regular" ones will have to wait a week.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Well, Best Buy's supposed to be getting their alloted shipment of USA region PS Vitas for sale/distribution next week on Feb. 15th, 2012 (ahead of the slated official Feb. 22nd release date for the USA). Of course, requires a pre-paid $5 deposit to get one. Hmmm.....
Re: PS Vita Western Launch
It's perfect for local mp like classic bmups, which is something you can't do on Vita. Ha ha, I think I really have it in for this system.Khan wrote:Being the group of gamers who live and breath 2d here im surprised no ones mentioned Dragons crown on the system either which is the other main reason why I really really want one also I saw a video of a ps3 game running on the system which was quite intruiging

Re: PS Vita Western Launch
Why can't we have a system that plays UMDs AND has TV connections (disregarding the old systems and their classy LCD screens)?
Re: PS Vita Western Launch
Thanks to a Gamestop promotion, I was able to get rid of my semi-broken DS Lite and received $55 in credit towards a Vita. I normally wouldn't do business with Gamestop, but I don't mind so much if I have the opportunity to screw them over for a change. So now I have a Vita Wifi pre-ordered and paid off for a grand total of $214.
I was originally planning to wait for a revision that offered video-out (and a cheaper price), but I really wanted to get rid of my DS Lite, and there are a hand-full of Vita games I'm interested in available now or coming out soon :
Wipeout 2048
Gravity Rush
Persona 4
Dragon's Crown
Ragnarok Odyssey
DJ Max Technika
Currently on the fence over :
Uncharted (might get after price collapse)
Rayman Origins (same as above)
Disgaea 3
Little Busters
Lord of Apocalypse
Extreme Escape Adventure
Dream Club Zero (dunno if I should get this for 360 or Vita...the former is cheaper, but the latter has more content and it would be fun to play in public).

Re: PS Vita Western Launch
I'd definitely buy a "PSP Player" along the lines of the GBA player - plenty of worthwhile games on there, but the hardware's rather flimsy (not to mention I'd definitely appreciate a better d-pad for the fighting games). On a related note, it's also a bit of a shame that the Vita can't be hooked up to a TV screen like the PSP could be - it wasn't nearly as well-implemented as it should have been, but I'm still happy it had it.Ed Oscuro wrote:Why can't we have a system that plays UMDs AND has TV connections (disregarding the old systems and their classy LCD screens)?
Re: PS Vita Western Launch
Oh, the Vita doesn't have TV out? That's a shame, that was a great feature on the PSP. I'll definitely wait for a revision to include this feature, then.
Re: PS Vita Western Launch
The Vita doesn't have TV out because:
- They don't want it competing with the PS3 as a home platform
- Would make use of the touchscreen/pad mighty difficult
With the zoom function on my HDTV, I've had great results using PSP component cables. Shame I won't be able to do this with the Vita.
I don't understand why people are still complaining about the PSP's D-pad: the 3000 has the best one Sony had yet made. Seriously, it's better than that of a Dualshock. Though the Vita's is even better (I've tried a Best Buy demo unit).

Re: PS Vita Western Launch
I see no reason why one could not buy a cheap 2nd-hand PSP-3000 and pad-hack it to use as a console. I was considering doing it for the DJMax series, with some proper rectangular pushbuttons.BulletMagnet wrote:I'd definitely buy a "PSP Player" along the lines of the GBA player - plenty of worthwhile games on there, but the hardware's rather flimsy (not to mention I'd definitely appreciate a better d-pad for the fighting games). Re: PS Vita Western Launch
So Amazon.com closed off international orders for the Vita and videogamesplus.ca won't sell them without shoehorning you into buying some shitty launch title + memory card.
Not buying locally, of course.
Guess what I'm not buying until a price drop/revision.

It's like an ecchi Yakuza 4, which is a more accurate depiction of how hostess clubs work.xbl0x180 wrote:I already have these for the 360, but this description makes the games sound even more awersomehzt wrote:Dream Club is insane, it's a game where you pretend to interact with women whose job is to take your money and pretend they're interested in you. I don't think so! Dream Club is clearly superior.

Repetitive, sure, simplistic - no. Not compared to most belt-scrollers (and I am sort of a belt-scroller fan).

Re: PS Vita Western Launch
They definitely have a lot less depth than games such as Shadow Over Mystara, Alien vs. Predator, Battle Circuit, the Knights of Valor series, etc. Vanillaware sidescrolling beat em ups have very clunky and outdated fighting systems. AvsP was a huge leap forward for belt scrollers. And even something like Comix Zone, which is also a side scrolling beat em up, has a much better fighting engine. Oh and in Muramasa they include a lot of pointless "platforming" sections (you can't die from failing a jump - as long as I played at least - and you mostly just collect souls with no enemies to fight you) that are extremely boring and slow down the action immensely.
I agree with you on the repetitive aspect though; system wise that's a result of how simple they are and their low level of challenge, but they also recycle stages an awful lot (Grim Grimoire being an extreme example, even though that's a strategy game), which makes the the visuals rather repetitive too.

Re: PS Vita Western Launch
I was ready to preorder and stand in line at midnight, but I'm reconsidering at this point. It's not that I don't still want one, it's just that....there isn't really any games I'm excited about at launch. The main things I'm interested in right now are Ys 4, Dragon's Crown, Technika, Ridge Racer, and maybe Gravity Rush..and as far as I know none of those even have confirmed dates yet.

Re: PS Vita Western Launch
Vita`s sales in Japan fell to about 14,000 units this week. For comparison, the PSP did around 16,000. If things keep up like this(and I don`t see why they won`t), I think there`s a small chance Sony might pull the plug on this thing.

Re: PS Vita Western Launch
Depressingly enough a lot of parents let their kids play stuff far worse than that...I doubt too many kids would be much interested in something like Dream Club to begin with, though.Cuilan wrote:What kind of parent would let their kids play Dream Club?
