Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
the reason for the 15 fps is: it's a bad port...... it was rushed, they didn't play it before releasing it or just don't know how to program ios games.
Cave games are certainly more demanding than Rayforce and they run super smooth.

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
This flew under a lot of people's radars, but DariusBurst SP (as it's spelled in the App Store) released last night in the US along with DOJ. I'm hearing it's missing from the European store though.
Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
Yeah, we don't have it. That said, I can't afford $10 for this atm when I have the PSP one right here. Maybe later on.StarCreator wrote:This flew under a lot of people's radars, but DariusBurst SP (as it's spelled in the App Store) released last night in the US along with DOJ. Any chance this has iCADE support?
Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
Dariusburst is now available on the german appstore too!
Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
Almost nabbed this but the price kept it from being an impulse buy. Should I grab it? I've never played Darius Burst before, but the older games had fairly simple control schemes I could see working out a little better than Cave's iOS ports. Can I get some honest opinions on how awkward it is or isn't to play?

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
will the framerate be as bad as their rayforce port on a Touch 4g, thats what i wanna know
Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
Runs fairly smoothly on my iPhone4, I think they coded it much better than the Rayforce port.
They simplified the controls, for example there's no detached burst, and your burst lasts longer.
I only played a little bit but it seems pretty well optimized for touch play, I saw comments
that the touch response is similar to infinity gene, you can zoom across the speed very fast.

I guess the touch response makes up for the lack of aimed burstalamone wrote:Runs fairly smoothly on my iPhone4, I think they coded it much better than the Rayforce port.

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
The lack of Detached Burst Unit is highly irritating to say the least. Much better port compared to Rayforce, though.
It is considerably easier to Burst Counter now.
EDIT: Hah, cleared SP Mode with Legend Zero on first attempt: 105,830,880, ABCEI, Lx0. Made a massive cockup of Lightning Flamberge and Thousand Knives, though. And now I have Next Zero, which is the best ship by far.
EDIT 2: Hang on, Next Zero has the Detached Burst Unit. Even better!

Not to be a hater, but I'm somewhat bitter this version got localized.

Running this on my iPod Touch 4G, runs fine and I'm enjoying the heck out of this.... Had to use my stereo for the sound because it was just too good not to.

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
I haven't really played Darius games before but I absolutely love this one. Those giant fish bosses <3 Not a big fan of the music yet? Maybe it will grow on me.
How many levels are there? I think I got a route choice 4 times (1st one a single choice), but I have no idea how far I got?

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
Ugh, going with all caps will probably create even more "DariusBurst"s. Fortunately Taito was kind enough to put this up and release this, and (I think) register that one trademark forever ago. As a side note, fans of CamelCase should see NebulasRay.

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
graphically, how is this in comparison to the PSP version ?
edit: oh and how smooth is it (like the psp at 60fps) or 30fps

Nice gameplay video here that explains the differences between the ships: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm16931638
The game appears to be running at 60 fps.

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
First place on GameCenter overall, baby!
SP Mode (2nd ever attempt) with Legend Zero, 160,562,920, ABCEI ALL, Lx3 (no miss).
I think 200mil is achievable with fully accurate play, as I managed a paltry x7 on Thousand Knives, and missed a few bits off Mirage Castle. As with the PSP Arcade Mode, managing Burst Power is key here.

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
Icarus, you missed an extend, there's two extends so if you get them both, you get x5 life bonus.
Also, it looks like the scoreboards are divided by region, I'm 2nd place on the USA scoreboard with
my first attempt clear (150 million or so)...

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
I can't quite remember where the second extend is on the Zone I route, lol. I'll have to load my PSP Arcade Mode replay up and refresh my memory.alamone wrote:Icarus, you missed an extend, there's two extends so if you get them both, you get x5 life bonus.
Going to keep pushing on for a better score, I definitely think 200mil+ is possible with totally accurate play.

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
I've seen scores close to 300 million on my twitter timeline so definitely possible.
I'm only playing on easy right now - I suppose if you put it on hard, you would have
some more scoring opportunities?

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
I haven't noticed much, if any, difference playing on Normal or Hard. Perhaps the near-300mil scores are done with Assault, which has a maximum Burst Multiplier of x112?alamone wrote:I suppose if you put it on hard, you would have some more scoring opportunities?
Bear in mind I just threw in a quick go on Easy, and finished both Iron Fossil and Mud Wheel with both x16 for 69.2mil total, so it definitely is possible.

Re: Darius Burst: Second Prologue (iOS)
Well I cleared SP today and it crashed out after the credits and didn't record my score.
What are the basic differences between SP and Normal modes. As far as I can tell SP's first stage has a remixed colour scheme and music, but I didn't see any other differences along the route?

SP follows the same routes and has the same bosses, but has altered enemy formations in-stage. Original is basically Arcade Mode from the PSP.

Cool, I thought the patterns seemed a bit easier on SP.Icarus wrote:SP follows the same routes and has the same bosses, but has altered enemy formations in-stage. Original is basically Arcade Mode from the PSP.
