XRGB2+ Jamma compatibility w/ 15khz LCD

Post by Skykid »

Just a quick query,

If I wanted to find an LCD that runs at 15khz, would the XRGB2+ still experience sync issues with Jamma PCB's?

Everything I've tried on my current LCD TV in terms of PCB's is "out of range", so no picture at all. I know the 2+ isn't considered the best option for PCB's on LCD for this reason, but I just wondering if a 15khz monitor will solve the problem completely.

Thanks for the help folks.

A 15khz LCD wouldn't accept the 31khz output of the XRGB in the first place.

But anyway (maybe you meant a 31khz LCD), you'd still have the same issues, because the real problem is the horizontal refresh which is often too far off the NTSC refresh (59.94Hz) or the VESA refresh (60.00Hz) the LCD would expect.

Ah, that puts paid to that then. I just found some guy searching for a 15khz lcd on google w/the same unit, so I figured that's what I might need.

CRT all the way then I suppose, thanks Fudoh.

no, using a processor with unlocked output all the way ;) Where using a CRT is no option, you can use an upscaler which accepts any refresh and outputs 59.94Hz nevertheless. The XRGB-3 does this in B0. It will play any 54Hz Seibu PCB on any LCD. Currently so many people upgrade to the XRGB-Mini, so XRGB-3 are rather affordable right now.

I can't really afford to buy a new upscaler at the moment unfortunately. I was aware of the issue running PCB's on the 2+ when I picked it up, so I'll need to just live with it for the time being. Thanks for the help once again dude.
