Burning teh DVD from two very different video sources

I just need the quick answer... I'm pretty sure this doesn't work. My worse half wants a DVD of my son -- some video is from my iPod, and some is from my video camera. The video Camera is doing 30FPS, and I'm pretty damn sure the iPhone is doing 24 or whatever it does. Isn't there something wonky about trying to put both sources on the same DVD? I've not done this shit in years.

Drop some frames from the 30Hz source or add frames to the 24Hz source...sorry, I just read about this stuff, I don't actually do it

If I had the choice, I'd just put the files on a local format for computer playback (or on the TV if you have one of them newfangled PC to console or TV bridge thingers), and just leave the video editing to people getting paid for it

If you have the iPhone 4, it does 30fps as well - as long as you're using the back camera.. not sure about the front camera. You should just be able to drop both sources into Roxio/Toast and burn to DVD. It's fairly straightforward what you're wanting to do.. You're using a Mac, right?

Here is a solution if you are using Windows: The problem in this case is Apple Quicktime, which is a proprietary piece of shit video codec. First you need to convert the video to a free codec like XviD. I think SUPER (freeware) can be used to convert it ( http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html )
Then it's very simple to convert 24fps to 30fps. Get Virtual Dub (freeware). Open the video file, go to "video", select "direct stream copy" then again "video" and "frame rate" select "convert to FPS" and set it to 30fps. Then save as avi. Done.

Why not try iMovie and iDVD?

FWIW all the video GPs wife sent me was 30FPS.

I mainly use Mac, but can go Windows if I have to (XP). I try not to though. Right now, from the camcorder, the videos are m2ts or whatever that shit is. Personally I'd rather just make 2 fucking DVDs.

That's a HD video container (mpg2), which is used on Blu Rays.

Look at the iLife suite from the Apple store. For like $50 you get everything you need. It probably came with your MBP.

Step up is Final Cut Pro X for about $300. The old Express version is DC.

Burner is a commodity. It's the software that you need to be worried about. You're not getting video from a Blu-ray container onto a DVD without some hoop jumping.

I'm not totally sure iMovie will be ok with that as a starting point either. I will see if I have it installed.

I'm always going the other way. All of my family's video goes onto a media device that is hard drive based.

Under WinXP it's very simple. Do you have Nero Burning Rom (commercial burning software, shipped with many disc recorders). There is a free tool called Nero Recode (google it), which can convert m2ts into what's needed for DVD.
