No more shotia/leinyan/exy?

Seems logical to guess that red pilots A, green pilots B, blue pilots C. Mechanics posted so far sound great, looking forward to hearing more.

From those tiny slivers of screenshots, the game seems to be 3D and vertizontal. And yeah, the characters look pretty boring, though I don't really need a third game with shotia/leinyan/exy. There's something about "Bonus Chance" in the text.

It'll be interesting to see if this is a return to classic Cave standards of survival difficulty.

Reasons for:
- Probably their last arcade shmup, so they might focus more on courting the old guard fans
- Akai Katana was a huge flop in arcades despite being Cave's easiest shmup yet
- Dai ou Jou is in the title

Reasons against:

- Likely a heavy bishoujo focus due to the artist, so they might also want to pander to limp-wristed otaku who play games for the characters
- Deathsmiles continues to be Cave's most successful series
- Autobombing was in the last game, they might be afraid of butthurt if they remove it (they shouldn't be)

Well, at least it already sounds more fun than DFK. Maybe the local arcade in my city will buy this game and I will be able to try it out.

The characters are a lot less fetishy than shotia/leinyan/exy, though. It's just that you'll probably be seeing much more of them.

I'm not worried about the potential 3D. DOJ and DFK were pre-rendered to begin with, and DSIIX looks great in 16:9 mode. DDP's mechanical designs would lend themselves very well to 3D.

Okay, I just read how autobombing works. It's optional and one autobomb eats your entire stock. They couldn't have implemented it better. Unfortunately, DDP2's sloppy combos seem to have returned to the series (no combo breaks--the counter just decreases).

actually it looks and sounds like dodonpachi just flew into the espgaluda 2 universe (not necessarily a bad thing but certainly not dark and gritty like we were lead to believe).
gameplay looks classic DDP tho (actually reminds me alot of DDP bee storm), nice.

and all T&A seems to be concentrated to cutscenes, no bullshit flying lolis or any of that crap, I can stomach it.

all thats missing from a purchase for me is the price and what you get in your package, the yen is brutal right now!

I liked Akai's soundtrack, but nothing beats DOJ, Ketsui, Ibara, or Mushi for me. I'm not surprised one bit that it's candy coated looking, and the music... Oh well, there's always Black Label for an upgrade.

Yeah, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't SH3 or PGM2 hardware, the visuals are a fit for either, there's nothing HD about them you can tell that even from the crappy phone videos. I'd be disappointed if it was SH3, because I was told when working on the driver that they'd cleared all their stock with the limited releases and the next release would be on PC-type hardware or PGM2.

If it's PGM2 don't expect it to be emulated, ever, IGS went even more nuts with the security on that than the later gen PGM1 games which I consider impossible.

The most "listenable" part was Stage 1's intro and it's perfectly fine.
