Somehow I just assumed they were really bad, but lately I've been hearing some love for the series, and after seeing the Radirgy Massive topic, it seems like the game had a lot of love (and modes) put into it.
How are the games? Does Massive totally eclipse the first game? I can find the first game in Ultimate Shooting Collection on Wii for $12, but I'd prefer the 360 one for the extra modes and stick support. What's up with these games? Is there anywhere that sells Massive for cheaper than $75?

Re: How are the Radirgy games?
IIRC, Massive and/or Noa are available Games on Demand, if you have a J-360 and a Japanese account or whatever. When I d/l'd the DLC for MMP/PS, I took a look and at least one iteration was on there. Doubt it'd cost $75. But I don't know the specifics of getting Japanese GoD, so someone else can chime in on that. If you don't have a J-360, I think you're outta luck. The Ultimate Shooting Collection is worth picking up in any case; the original is lots of fun, as are Karous & Chaos Fields, even if the latter two get mixed reviews around these parts. Has TATE, but you need to input a code.
The freaks are rising through the floor.

Re: How are the Radirgy games?
The two Radirgy games are similar, but not identical, as some stuff was changed for the sequel - I'd say you should definitely take the plunge on the Ultimate Shooting Collection and see what you think. If the general "Milestone style" agrees with you then you might want to look into getting Noa (which, apart from Massive, is also available on the Japan-only Milestone Collection 2 for Wii, alongside the 3 games from the first collection and Illvelo) - be prepared to take a more generally in-your-face, aggressive approach than you might be used to.Special World wrote:How are the games? Illvelo and Radirgy Noa are my two favorite Milestone games. You can get Illvelo in Milestone collection 2, but I personally love the game enough that I scored a stand alone copy from rancor. Having the individual game with its' own packaging just feels nicer
I also sent you a PM on where to get Radirgy Noa for likely less than half of $75.

They're not bad. Fun visual style, great music, especially if you're into drum'n'bass.
It gets kind of repetitive real fast, though.
The style does go a long way, at least.

Milestone make "marmite" shmups- it's a quirky style which either you love or hate and you won't know til you've tried it.
Radirgy and Radirgy Noa both turn on building big multipliers by recharging one of your weapon types quickly enough to discharge it before your previous multiplier has decayed. It's a repetitive but hypnotic mechanic and again either you're gonna love it or hate it. It's easier to sustain this weapon chaining in Noa and I prefer it, but a lot of people like the bigger challenge of original Radirgy.
So suck it and see
