PcengineFanX! well it's just because of the aspect of the mini arcade and low price in a charity place  don't remember the gameplay, i surely played this in the 80's. it's surely basic as some "wheels" of midway arcade i guess. i collect many handhelds for different aspects, that would be around 230 different models/brands i guess having.. remembering i fighted (and lost..) one of this in box.. hard battle on ebay  some international specialists want all the worldwide versions, and there are specific european/french ones

today i got this on a specialist shop in Paris (insane prices but it burns your eyes for sure  . http://www.lulu-berlu.com/dhtml/home.php , this tomy handheld in box  , the french version is different more widescreened box

Team Losi Micro SCT & Kyosho Mini-Z MA-010. So far I have only driven the Micro SCT since I am still waiting for a KT-18 transmitter to be delivered.

I modded the Micro SCT to take 6xAAA batteries so it has 50% more power and at the same time runs for 4 times as long as the stock battery (but damned heavy now). It's a relatively inexpensive machine, so I didn't think twice before bashing it around the house and taking some big jumps. This thing is crazy wild fun.

I'm a bit more worried about damaging the Mini-Z, since it was EXPENSIVE, even more so after installing a bunch of aluminum parts on it. The fit & finish on the chassis is unbelievable though, such precision engineering that must be seen to be believed. I can't wait to race against my cousin, but I got him a MR-015i which is slightly nerfed electronically, I might have a big advantage...
Nice. I have a Traxxas E-Revo VXL that I haven't used much in a while that I should pull back out of the closet and do some stuff to. Sure it tends to break, but at least all the parts are available, and sometimes fixing it is half the fun (although if I want to tinker, I'll probably do it on my Nitro truck.)

Those nitro trucks are crazy. I watched some Youtube of guys driving them in the desert really fast.

I found a local group of Mini-Z racers, I'm going to go meet up with them this weekend. Should be fun. It seems there is another local guy who does a lot of rock crawling too.

I'd love to get into RC cars (just something half-decent to rag around the local park), but I wouldn't know where to start, and don't know any real world humans into it. I guess a good RC magazine would be a good starting point.

Those latest-gen Kyosho Mini-Z cars are ace. I bought one at a Japanese Toys-R-Us store with a mere 9,999 yen price tag back in April of 2000. With those first-gen Mini-Z cars, you had to carefully cut out all those super tiny decals by hand and expertly apply them by hand as well (forcing you to do it right the first time or otherwise incur an overall botched/sloppy decal job...especially mounting both the headlight & brake light decals in place -- took plently of patience do so). It was quite a chore but worth it in the end (nowdays, all the decals are painted on professionally in-house at the factory saving such valuable time).

Got a modded Mini-Z X motor to swap out the stock motor for some really crazy fast speed. Went down to a Japanese hobby shop in Akihabara district & bought some Mini-Z replacement parts + extra tire sets in various compounds + a full ball bearing set to replace the stock bushing set. Those 1st-gen Mini-Z bundled sets came with a full-sized old-school Kyosho Prefex pistol-grip transmitter (quite different compared to what they offer nowdays).

It was really hard to find such replacement & optional hop-up Mini-Z parts in Japan back in early 2000 as Kyosho really hadn't fully supported that particular R/C lineup just yet. In fact, Kyosho hadn't even distributed the Mini-Z cars officially in the USA despite brisk sales of them off of eBay.

The all-new Kyosho Mini-Z Off Road cars in the Lazer & Optima motifs look awesome but are sure expensive, even on the KyoshoUSA.com site (they were introduced in late 2011 for the Christmas holiday season). This is the first time that Kyosho has made an dedicated off-road Mini-Z car ever (since their first foray into producing 1/20th scale mini off-road cars, the "Mini Baja Bugs" lineup with the Mini Baja Ultima & Mini Baja Optima cars circa 1988). I was going to buy an Mini Baja Bug but passed up on the chance to do so back in 1989-1990.

The Kyosho D-Nano cars are even smaller than the Mini-Zs...something to look into if you're getting into the mini or micro class R/C car hobby segment.

I think I already posted photos of this (and my Revo 3.3 nitro truck) in the thread at some point, but this conversation convinced me to pull my E-Revo VXL out of the closet.

Image

I haven't really kept up with the mini RC cars (in fact, it's been a couple of years since I did much with the ones I have) but it seems like the 1/16 scale stuff has come forward quite a bit over the past few years. Given the proper gearing and batteries you can apparently get 50 miles per hour out of one of these. I still have everything mostly stock right now, so it only goes about 25 if you max it out.

Image

For the most part, it's pretty much a (somewhat simplified in some places) smaller version of the full size Revo with the same 4WD and the same suspension setup. I still think the Revos have one of the coolest looking suspension setups I've seen in an RC car.

I'm not even greatly into car games, and with coin-op racers of the era, the sit down cabs are where it's at really, but the gizmo was bundled with the rest and it feels pretty solid, so I might as well try them Saturn racers out with it.

Definitely a stroll down memory lane with some of the listed American animated Saturday morning syndicated shows back in the early 1980s as listed on the lulu-beru site.

Yep, Tomy re-released it's 1984 Pocket Arcade handhelds again for the U.S. toy market back in 1989 & haven't done so since then. The original 1982 Pocket Arcade versions are the best IMO.

There was an event I attended last weekend called MAGFest, which is located in the US (Maryland, to be specific) and virt was just walking around the con with his friends. Bumped into the guy and asked him if he had the time to sign something of mine. He asked what it was and when I said 'my Daifukkatsu Black Label arrange album', he was like 'FUCK YEAH I'LL SIGN IT.'
i forgot to bring my copy for him to sign, hahaha; will have to have him do it at a future con. he's a great dude!
