For those interested, XBL and PSN demos are available on the US store.

I just tried the XBL demo. I'm a big HnK fan, but generally hate games that use the Dynasty Warriors template, so I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this more than similar Koei offerings. I think it helps that the game throws enemies at you in handfuls rather than hundreds, so it feels like you're fighting instead of mowing the lawn. On the down side, the target lock is annoyingly loose, especially in close quarters and when dodging. Attack strings also execute much slower than I expected. Still, it nails the atmosphere and signature combat styles of HnK, which counts for a lot. I'm leaning towards buying it, but I may wait for the inevitable price drop.

Tried the PSN demo. It took forever to download, but I don't remember my US XBL details, oh well.

Played through first with Rei, then with Kenshirou. Had more fun using Rei since he's more agile. I get the feeling Kenshirou's battle was at an early point in the game, because there weren't very many techniques at his disposal. Since he's the star, they probably aren't willing to give too much away.

I'm quite impressed (even if my friend says it was considered a kusoge in japan) and the graphics are probably the best Koei have done so far. I agree, the enemies feel like they have more significance as they actually feel like enemies. That's one thing which bothers me about Dynasty Warriors/Shin Sangoku... you have 200 Chinese swarming your ass, but only a single one will poke at you.

Anyway, I might pick up the 360 version eventually. Dual audio is much appreciated. I wonder if they've tried to improve the loading times from the JP versions.

the third gundam game looks mind blowing but yeah i think between FOTNS and gundam DW 3 they have really steped up a bunch on the graphics. took them long enough they were looking like PS2+ for quite a while.

EU version has the option to use the original JP voices with subtitles. Its in my opinion the only way to play it

First thoughts: "Great - Dynasty Warriors with FOTNS characters!"

First impressions: "What's this 30 fps bullshit?"

Didn't bother playing past the initial fight, ugly 30fps graphics are a huge step down from the DW titles.

If you're interested in this game, you might want to skip the 360 version.

Tried the demo and didn't like it one bit. The game is just rubbish.

Kotaku is linking to a video which was posted months ago on a Japanese blog.

It's still unknown if the localization's loads are like this (if the game being entirely in Japanese wasn't apparent).

To my poor knowledge, Fist of the North Star will only have English voices and English subs. KOEI are releasing an International version of the game in Japan in December with both Japanese and English voices, no idea about subtitles for that version, and all the updates made for the NTSC version.

It is dual audio, check the demo's options.

I'm glad this is getting a release outside of Japan. It's a fun trip even if it's not a great game. Passable game with enough awesomeness thematically that it's worth playing.

I'll probably be picking up the Asian region copy for 360 when it is released next month. If nobody else does I'll report in on loading times etc.

Exact same impression I had. It's a real shame, too. I now have absolutely no desire to play the full version for free, much less coughing up fifty clams for it. I don't remember the parts I hated, but I remember wanting the demo to end soon after it started. I wish it was more like Godhand...

i love this series! they should finish the english dub for the rest of the 140+ episode series!
blasphemy

dubs are the devil
This is true but the HNK dub happens to be the awesomest dub in the history of dubs. We spent the whole of New Years Eve drinking beer and watching it at CHI's place. Too good. :o

(Edit: I know this is contradictory, and I still hate dubs generally - just not the Manga entertainment HNK series, it's really special. :D )
