I always think about Ron Paul during the Stage 4 midboss of Ketsui. I must have been reading political news right before practice one day and I guess it just slipped into my mind.

Sexy Parodius, the first stage boss - popcorn, but it's a no-brainer.

for some reason Zing Zing Zip still doesn't make me think of jelly beans. Neither of the pilots look like Ronald Reagan either. This isn't working.

Food and shmups, those are my two passions - it's only natural to combine them!

Re: Bosses with FOOD?
Hey Cagar, I totally know what you mean about bosses and food. In fact, I'm gonna go a little bit further and share a recipe for a specific boss:
I've decided to name my chili recipe after the first boss of Mushihimesama Futari. Does anyone know his/her/its name? This chili sneaks up on you exactly how that fire breath took you out the first time you played Mushimesama Futari! This recipe is an ode to how awesome to play it at Arcade Infinity and how got me back into this crazy mixed up and fun scene.
Mushihimesama Futari "1st Stage Boss" Chili
Take a tip from me you gotta 1cc this recipe but don't worry
you got it if you just follow these easy directions for my delicious chili. I
have made it at shmupmeets for my buddy Akraten. It is so good.

Code: Select all
Step 1
Find a market and buy 2 lbs of beef chuck or cheaper beef. You are
going to be stewing it so it doesn't have to be steak quality. Go to a
mexican/asian market they gots some good stuff. I browned a whole boneless beef shank.
Cube that meat with a sharp knife (don't cut yourself we are going for a 1cc you know!) then
dice it kind of fine.
1 TBS Cooking Oil (if you want to put a diced clove of garlic or two
go ahead...it's all good!) Add ingredients together and lightly brown meat. Take it out, put it
on a plate, and set it aside.
Cube a pound of pork shoulder/butt or get a pork chop or two, and brown that too and
put it in the same plate you put the meat. (get that Malliard reaction, it's FLAVA!)
Step 2
Cut a whole onion in half, yellow or red it don't matter! Reserve the other half to dice up to add to your chili when it's done. Dice it fine. Put it in that pan you browned the meat in until translucent or carmelized. YEAH YEAH! Put it on the plate with the meat.
Step 3
Open a can of tomato paste and brown in the pan for a 5 minutes or so
until it turns deep red. This will cook off the raw tomato taste.
Step 4
Put in a couple of cups of chicken broth/chicken or pork boullion w/water. I like to use Knorr's brand.
Water will do in a pinch but get the broth, it adds mad flavor like getting a Power Up.
Then add:
optional: 1 or 2 cans of black beans/kidney beans/pinto beans, etc.)
1 TBS Light Chili Powder (I get chili powder from the nearby Latino market.)
1 TBS Dark Chili Powder
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Paprika
½ TBS Ground Cumin (go easy on the cumin, it can quickly overwhelm your chili)
½ tsp Black Pepper
Float 1 serrano or 1 jalapeno pepper on top.
Simmer for 1 hour. Your place will fill up with the delicious aroma of chili. Smell it. Breathe it in.
Add 1 tsp of cumin. Taste your chili, if it hot enough for you then stop. Add Light Chili Powder and 1x and Dark Chili Powder in teaspoon increments to increase heat levels...If you are cooking for people who can handle only different levels of spice, hand that person who wants to spice it up a bottle of hot sauce That way other people can taste the meat not the heat! Add water if needed. Add salt to taste, but watch it especially if you've added bouillon or adding grated cheddar cheese later. Simmer for another 1 hour.
Serve with finely diced onion and top grated cheddar cheese. Eat with crackers/tortillas/bread, whatever you like! Bon appetit!
