The 4th sequel of "Underworld Awakening" flick is out...
Finally checked out the highly hyped fourth sequel of Underworld Awakening in 3D yesterday. The fight scenes/gun battle scenes look awesome in 3D (and not to mention the blood splatter effects). With some twists 'n' spins that you won't see coming (leading to some WTF?! moments), it does continue the epic saga between the Death Dealers (Vampires) & the Lycans eternal war that has been raging on for centuries. This sequel continues after the conclusion of part 2. Part 3 tells of the origins of the Lycans & the Vampires and what set the stage for the epic war between them. I surely got my $10.50's worth to be entertained for the 90 minutes duration that this Underworld sequel had to offer.

YES!!! So glad to hear that the flick is good. I've been excited for this movie for a moment. Especially since I heard Kate Beckingsale is back in it. Planning to go see this on Tuesday. I don't ever go to the movies, so being motivated to go just to see it and not the temptation of a pretty girl is a big deal.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Finally checked out the highly hyped fourth sequel of Underworld Awakening in 3D yesterday. While we're all here, I would like to recommend vampire-flick watchers get ahold of the 1998 Channel 4 (UK) production "Ultraviolet." Creepy as hell, sometimes disgusting, and usually thought-provoking. Totally different from the Underworld series, but the contrasts are nice.

You would have to pay me to see this film.

This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

I don't need much incentive to see Kate Beckinsale in that leather one-piece.

Ed, you crack me up with your witty sarcasm. Yeah, it'd be interesting to read Skykid's opinion of Underworld Awakening.
As it stands, it just tells the further adventures of Selene and Co. & their war against the Lycans. The body count rises as well in this flick.

I found this series to be average at best. But a higher bodycount, you say? That might make things more entertaining.

Re: The 4th sequel of "Underworld Awakening" flick is out...
I thought the first two movies were best when it wasn't just mindless killing - the little vignettes of "normal" life and history (+Arts) were somewhat interesting. Not that the action was bad, but I liked that it had some other sensibilities than just bloodletting.

I'm sure these movies are good for the sake of action, but this is getting on the verge of Resident Evil-ridiculous.
Nice to know it's worth your money though PCFX and co. Too often I get disappointed by what's out today.

I'm never going to watch it so it's not going to happen unfortunately. I saw about an hour of the original before I couldn't stand no more: it was like watching a dumptruck upturn its contents into a stinking pit with a blue lens filter over it, an Emo goth cut-myself-for-attention movie with horrible dialogue and flaccid direction; much like that barrel of shit Wisemen went on to make called Live Free or Die Hard. This Underworld Awakening did quite well at the U.S. box office taking the lead for it's opening weekend debut amongst the new movies out on 1/20/2012 including George Lucas' Red Tails WWII flick. Ah, that's too bad you didn't like the first Underworld flick, Skykid.

Red Tails has me more interested, actually, what with George Lucas revealing the Hollywood studios were all "what, BLACK PEOPLE!? We can't market BLACK PEOPLE!! Make the cast more non-black plz, maybe if they dress up as women that would help too." (Incidentally, there's a connection with Ultraviolet again - one of the leads, Idris Elba, has spoken out on exactly that issue.)
Re: The 4th sequel of "Underworld Awakening" flick is out...
I would be more interested in Red Tails if the trailer wasn't set to electro music. For something as significant as this subject matter, that just doesn't work.

Here are the debut weekend totals for both Underworld Awakening & Red Tails for the U.S. box office:
Box Office Results For weekend of 1/22/2012
Rank Title ------------------- Weekend Gross --- Cumulative Gross -- Weeks In Release
1 --- Underworld: Awakening - $25,306,725 ----- $25,306,725 ------- 1
2 --- Red Tails -------------- $18,782,154 ----- $18,782,154 -------- 1
George Lucas has said that he spent $100 million of his own money to get Red Tails made/distributed stateside. Mr. Lucas also mentioned that he spent just $35 million alone, on just marketing Red Tails for the U.S. film market. Absolutely no other major American film studio would touch Red Tails, so Lucas best decided that it'd be better to have himself do it through his Lucasfilm Ltd. venture.

This movie is amazing Skykid... you should see it ASAP.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

This 4th Underworld sequel is primarily aimed for the UW fans, myself included. With the way how it ends, it looks like there's a strong possibility for a fifth sequel. The war between the Lycans & vampires is still on-going.
On the average, each UW flick costs about $40 million USD to produce, yet manages to earn well over what it costs to produce it easily in the USA & in the international film market combined for the 1st-print reel run (not to mention profits from the upcoming DVD, Blu-Ray & digital streaming on day one of release).

Underworld gets a strong vote of confidence from me simply because they released an official game on the Half-Life engine (by 2003, this is ancient! Ha ha!) done by the guy behind They Hunger. Hooray for whips and things!

Re: The 4th sequel of "Underworld Awakening" flick is out...
My thoughts on Underworld 1:
Imagine they released a movie whose synopsis was "Godzilla vs Voltron!"
But watching the film, you learn that Godzilla is just a 7 foot lizardman with no radioactive breath whose main power is that he's really strong. Then you find out that Voltron is just a guy in an "Aliens" powered suit that, contrary to superstition, is not made from giant robot lions. The movie makes sure to add a scene where the Voltron guy sneers at someone dumb enough to believe that he can summon a blazing sword.
The remainder of the film consists of Godzilla and Voltron shooting handguns at each other in bullet-time.
