anyone know of any websites that contains sprites (animated sprites preferred) for video games, particulary shmups? I remember visiting a Taiwan based Chinese animated .gif site that contains gazillions of animated sprite from various games/Japanese net culture, though it's dead now ;_;

For C64 stuff the C64 Animation Archive has a lot of shmup sprites in the "Space" and "Other" sections (that's where I got the animation for my avatar).
