Favorite console start up screen?

What's your favorite console boot up sound/animation? Like the classic ~~Sega~~ intro, Neo Geo chime, Nintendo Game Boy beep, or even the "PRESENTED BY CAVE" (who the fuck likes that?).


Recently acquired a PlayStation and forgot how good the intro was. That first note of music makes my heart rush.

Something about old hardware, and it's limitations, set them apart from the newer consoles. The PS3 & 360's intros feel pretty lifeless to me. Nothing particularly moving about them

Sega's 16bit logo is definitely the most memorable, but nothing makes me smile more than the little clink of the nintendo logo on SMW. The PSX logo kinda makes me impatient.

And I agree with Mesh. The 360 and PS3 start ups suck nads. PS3 less so. (Shut the fuck up about fanboy accusations, I like both systems).

The GameCube and Saturn startups gives me nostalgia. But my favorite one would have to be either PS2 or regular Playstation.

The Famicom Disk System's startup is so pretty with it's flashing lights and old style Nintendo sound. It's also unobtrusive, since after it reaches the center of the screen a button press will send you to your game's title screen. Been playing a good bit of Simon's Quest, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid on one recently. Too bad about the disc swapping and load times, but overall a very endearing peripheral with somewhere around 200 games.

Well let`s see, who can forget the classic US NES "intro" provided by the NES lockout chip and flaky cartridge connector, where you`d power it on and it would play about four notes of the opening tune of whatever game you had in, and then reset, over and over

Startup logos/menus/warnings/jingles are overrated. Instant-on FTW.

I'm going to cheat and say the best intro is on the Famicom / NES. Which has no intro, just goes straight to the game.

Though I must admit the Game Boy Beep has a high nostalgia value for me.

As far as fast startup screens, PC Engine has to be up there. Power on it appears, press start game loads, done.

I'm surprised the Dreamcast startup is as short as it is, given Windows CE.
