Wikipedia blackout?

Post by Never_Scurred »

Why is everyone talking about Wikipedia being blacked out? I've been on there for the last hour and haven't gotten any blackout screen.....

It was blacked out for most of the day in protest of the S.O.P.A and P.I.P bill, the copyright lobbyists want the US government to pass. It's scary times for the internet.

Even still, the smart people knew how to still use it during the "black out".

I figured it out. I'm using NoScript with Firefox and i've never unblocked most of the scripts from Wikipedia. That's why I can still use the site without the SOPA message.

Yeah, they had this clever effect where you'd see the article you were looking for for a brief second or two before it blacked out and replaced the page with an anti-SOPA message. Disabling javascript stopped the blackout from kicking in.
