Darius Twin Vs. Super Nova(Darius Force)
I'm not too familiar with the Darius series back in the days, but now I woould like to add one of them to my SNES collection. I found both Darious Twin and Super Nova at my local import shop for 5 buck each. I only need one of them, which one is the better overall game? I've played Twin before and thought it was a decent and very basic shooter which I don't mind. Is Super Nova better or worse then Twin? I've searching for info on these two in the forum and didn't really see who was the clear cut winner. I need to see what the general consensus thinks about the two games and that will help me decide which to pick up on the weekend. Thanks.
Oh...I would also like to know what is the best Darius for any system?

Darius Twin and Force are the probably the poorest Darius games. They weren't even made by Taito, and I wouldn't recommend either of them very highly (they are about equal in their 'bleh' factor). G Darius is probably the best affordable way to get into the series. It can be had for ~$15 and is a truly excellent game. Darius Gaiden is also very good.

Do you have proof about them not being made by Taito? As far as I know, they were made by Taito. The little snipits of credits I have seen for the game seen to suggest that they were designed by Taito too.Accutron wrote:Darius Twin and Force are the probably the poorest Darius games. Personally, I like Darius Force quite a bit. I like the little changes like missiles and fire that are more powerful when used apart from each other. Also, the bosses are all original and very unique to the Darius series. I also like how there are three selectable ships from the get go, unlike most Darius games.
Eh, you're probably right. I've seen it mentioned several times on here and other places by credible people that they were not actually developed by Taito, but it was always anecdotal.BrianC wrote:Do you have proof about them not being made by Taito? Regardless of who made them, I still think they're the weakest members of the Darius series.

My favourite Darius game would be the original Super Darius on PCE CD. Darius II on Saturn is also very good. Darius Gaiden (Saturn) looks good, but for me doesn't have as good a feel or soundtrack as these other titles. Super Darius II on PCE SCD also worthy. Darius II MD is good game in its own right, just not very like arcade. SNES Darius games poo-poo. Hope this helps.

I got step in here....
I love Darius Force. Its a fairly challenging (on Hard) and one of the few shooties with no slowdown (at least the levels I've played) on the SNES. More of the game is emphasised on dodging scenery then bullets, but its still quite challenging and pretty fair. I also love the b-movie style soundtrack!
If I had to sort my favourite SNES shmups in order, Darius Force would be above a lot, like Gradius III, Super E.D.F., Thunder Spirits....
I haven't played Darius Twin, but I've heard you can basically just hold fire and stay in place and still except to do fairly successful. Not my idea of fun...

Darius R on GBA was the one that was actually not developed by Taito. PCCW Japan outsourced this one to Rideon ( www.rideon.co.jp ).Accutron wrote:

Darius Twin is OK, but it does come up short on total stage count (12 zones?).
Kinect? KIN NOT.
