MON's Daioujou Death Label clear. It's mirrored from Nicovideo. Unlisted, as it were, as the Arika version is still available on Youtube, just private. I don't want any trouble.

That was insane. My eyes couldn't cope with the final twin boss bullet hell.

I saw many superplays in my life but this... is a fucking madness! Now that guy I would really call godlike, fighting tlb with NO LIVES but bombs and hypers.

How much hours and months did you spend to be this good? One of best replays i've seen despite it being a practice run.

Death Label's first loop isn't particularly bad, but the second one leaves you with no lives, non-lethal bombs, and you start with no hypers, on the WL patterns (so some bosses are harder compared to BL, 2-2 and especially 2-3 are nasty), and then obviously there's the dual Hibachis at the end. MON had stats out and IIRC most of his credits got to the loop, and he was pretty consistent on most things other than the mentioned, but he's still only got to the twin bees around 84 times out of 1800 tries.

So it's pretty much a trial in patience, and it's especially bad when you consider the game is a PS2 exclusive with lengthy stage transitions, no training and no savestate. Using an emulator would make it a lot faster to train on, but I don't believe MON ever used one.

I'm not sure you know what you're talking about. Death Label is a boss rush, has no loops, cannot be practiced in MAME, and is harder than both White and Black Label.

There's a reason why a fair portion of people here, including myself, have reached the second loop of Black Label. It's simply way easier.

... what, I've got to 2-1 in Death Label, how did that happen if there's no loop? :P And I played it on an emulator, it's called PCSX2, it's a pretty good software too!

(Hint: MON's video is the second loop ONLY)

Actually, Aliquantic is correct on all counts; Death Label has two loops (the second of which forces you to one-life the whole thing and makes bomb even more ineffective), it can be emulated in PCSX2, and being a boss rush/difficult to clear doesn't contradict any of the prior statements.

EDIT: Whoops, a little slow on the uptake.

It's good if you can get PCXZSZXZS2 to run shmups at full speed, personally I've always suffered from slowdown both in DOJ and Mushi :(

DOJ runs full framerate on something as ancient as Athlon 64 3400+ in recent PCSX2 versions. That's how I made my 2009 score. Some speedhacks (there is a separate menu tab for them) may be required though. Other PS2 shmups need way beefier machines.

Thanks. I've been playing shmups for almost 3 years now but I haven't really played DOJ all that much until very recently. This probably took a couple of weeks.

I don't get the appeal of making a good game inside of a shitty one. Same goes for all the Minecraft nonsense.

I used VirtualDub's Capture AVI function for my latest vids. Before that I was using SnagIt 8. As for the filesize, the XVid codec is your friend.

It's the challenge of creation, and making said 'shitty' game less shitty.

I personally don't get the appeal of stating facts like everyone's meant to know without explaining or providing source material, nor do I get 4chan, or doll collecting, or scanlines, or most RPGs, but you don't see me calling it nonsense just because it's beyond my spectrum of interest. :P

In case there's still someone here who isn't tired of DOJBL videos, here's my latest run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8B3PYSOTI_I
I uploaded it mainly because I'm so happy of the first loop where I chained almost everything I wanted to (score 681M). It's not very pro level, but it's a nice and not that risky chaining strategy.

Death Smiles II - 1,104,375,358 - Lei

Made a bunch of mistakes in this run, but I'm still pretty happy with it. I don't think I'll bother trying to improve any time soon.

Don't need to as that was a pretty intense run. Enjoyed watching that.
