Testing Shienryu, getting a bit into Death Mode in XOP Ultra and thinking about completing the almost 1CCed Strikers 1945 II and Sengoku Blade. Under Defeat is a choice, too. Damn, I don't know what one of them to play intensively.

Worked a little bit on improving my routes in Gunbird 2's loop. 2-4, 2-6 and 2-7 seemed overwhelming for the longest time, but it feels like I'm finally starting to get the hang of them.

I also gave V-V a try the other day. Great game, easily the most enjoyable Toaplan I've played thus far. I'm tempted to go for a 2-All, but non-Psikyo looping games always start to get annoying to me after a while because of their length. We'll see.

Make any XBox 360 shmup new again by turning its music volume to 0 and replacing its soundtrack with the soundtrack from another shmup. I was playing Radiant Silvergun with the Recca soundtrack last night and it fit so well.

I got greedy for more multipliers on the turrets of the final boss' 2nd form and screwed up badly.

Decided to focus on Mushi Futari BL God Mode on 360. The erratic pausing was getting really bad so I eventually just disconnected from Live and after a game or two, everything was running smoothly. Such an annoying glitch that really does need to be addressed.

Futari God mode is so great. Its like Fight Club. Everything else seems quiet and calm compared to it.

So far I can make it to the stage 2 midboss. My want for that awesome 30k multiplier keeps me from bombing as often as I should.

Also trying to play Tatsujin on the pce, but its wicked.

Great to hear you guys are liking God mode. I said it kind of jokingly a few pages back but it really is the best game I've ever seen. I'm actually probably going to return to it once I get this fucking Ultra behind me.

I've been revisiting the PCE shmups lately. SoldierBlade is my favorite of the Hucards, so I've been delving a bit more into its most obvious relative, Super Star Soldier, specifically the caravan modes. Good stuff.

I play shmups more for fun (and/or survival/perfect runs) than for score :V
I think the only time i was actually aimed for score was Hellsinker Extra 1
(I like watching scoreplays from time to time tho)

I got DDP Resurrection for the 360 on Christmas, but it's not doing it for me like Futari did the year prior.

Got a Garegga PCB on it's way, so I'll most likely be playing (and crying) that for a while.

Wow, that is really impressive. Out of curiosity, do you think your route could be adapted for use with Aine, or is it Katana-only? There was a time when I tried to get by with a two-bomb strategy (more or less plagiarized from Wednesday's run), but I eventually decided it was too finicky and inconsistent in my hands.

I don't know if you can do something similar with Aine, because I base a lot of my strategy on being able to one-hit-kill the cannonmen, and Aine needs more than one charge shot to destroy them. But maybe you can figure out a workaround after watching this replay (tell me if it works, it desynced a few times for no apparent reason, I'll try to do a video otherwise).

Beat my Mars Matrix score, but I'm getting kind of bored of the the scoring system. I need to sit down with something a bit less stressful and convoluted; get back to the basics of dodging and shooting, which will hopefully rejuvenate my spirit.

Probably go back to a Psikyo game or late Toaplan.

That was a joy to behold. I'm going to have to borrow your strategy if I try to learn the game with Katana in the future. Doesn't seem feasible with Aine for the reason you mentioned but I can't complain--I think there are at least a few sections in which Aine has a significantly easier time of it than Katana does (e.g., loop 2 dragon boss).

Been idly perusing some NES classics. Zanac, quite fun. Best NES shmup I've tried outside of Gradius and Life Force. Gunnac, way too easy (but good music). Tried Recca too... on an rgb modded nes, I do get a lot of flicker and it generally looks kind of bad imo. I wonder if this is one of the games where it "blends" certain things better on composite?

Me, I just managed to triple my score AND beat Stage EX4 properly on XOP Black Ultra Special. I'll be happy if I can break the 10-mil mark and live to tell the tale.
