even though it's not CAVE, I love Psyvariar 2. ...don't really care for the rest of the series. ...maybe one day we'll see a part 3.

Success is still around I believe?

Psyvariar was developed by the Korean studio Skonec, who folded a few years ago after their DS shovelware games failed to sell. Their final shmup was Homura.

If they really are to call it quits, they should go out with a 'best of' collection, with a game from all their main series and a few lesser-knowns. Hell, licence Mame, knock up a quick frontend and it might even turn a profit.

I loved Mushi's design, its graphics and music were not only awesome but had tons of character. The scoring system seemed to be pretty fucked though and the bosses were almost complete shite, so I'm hoping that the Matsuri version fixes this. And, of course, an Xbox-version wouldn't have the terrible interlaced graphics of the PS2-version...

More people need to play this game.
I would say that Akai Katana approximates the scoring in Progear. I haven't played that much Progear, but they both seem to be about canceling bullets with explosions.

Was in a rush when I made the poll and didn't share my thoughts so here goes....I have to vote for Ibara/Kuro. Thought Mushihime Futari is probably my favorite shmup now (used to be Thunderforce 5 for years until I got into more 'hardcore' shmup gaming a few years back) and I probably should vote for a Mushi Collection (which I definitely want) there's just something about that amazing Ibara artwork. Plus I've loved the little bit of Pink Sweets that I've had the time to play and I've wanted to play Ibara for years. I even had a chance to pick up a factory sealed PS2 copy for $80 about two years ago which I should have grabbed even if it isn't perfect and I've regretted it since. So come on Cave....make our dreams come true lol. I also really want Progear as it looks amazing but I know that's virtually impossible....so for me Ibara wins.

By the way, you have forgotten a double pack Ibara/Mushi with Kuro and 1.5, that would be the sweetest thing
True...and I'd love it to happen. But I don't think they're going to cram 2 games with all their alternate versions into one pack like they did with MMP/PS....granted if they did, this is the option I'd choose as well.

mushi collection. well i would even go for just mushi.

i absolutely love the game but the ps2 version is just too hard on the eyes on any possible setup that i have played it on.

never felt love for ibara. got thrown off by the abysmal ps2 port but even the arcade version didn't click.

Oops. I meant as a bona fide disc release

I voted for Ibara / Ibara Kuro, but I actually believe the Mushi collection will be their next 360 port.

A disc based R-Type for 360 would just have to include those ultra cheesy cutscenes from the PCE R-Type Complete disc. :P

On topic, I'd have to go with Ibara, although Mushi would be really close.

You're missing the point completely.

Square was about to go out of business and placed all their remaining funds into one last game, which is why it was appropriately titled "FINAL" Fantasy. ala one last fantasy game from us, this is goodbye. However the game became a hit and virtually saved the company.

It was just a joke anyway, not for you to look too deeply into. Final Shooter doesn't have quite the ring to it either.

...and FFXIII was a HUGE success. Some fans may have not liked it but the game sold very well.

Would definitely go for the DDP collection. I'm not a Mushi or Ibara fan, and I almost clicked on ESPRade at first, but then I remembered that runs fine on Mame already, and the more games for your money is always the better option.

I've heard this myth countless times, and it's almost completely false.

They should all be downloadable releases, with versions included if available.

Personally I find it hard to believe we'll see any more disc releases. Individually I don't think the games will justify them on paper. As a complete disc collection, unless they found/licensed an emulation solution I'm not sure they'd justify the work/time. I think commercially most of these games are facing the pressure of being regarded as old games without something new to tie them to.

Perhaps Mushihime brand sells well enough to try another disc release? I did like the original a lot, but despite it's mechanical strengths I'm a little cool towards anything futari.

I'd have like progear to get a more public outing, but that's in rights hell, and I'd be willing to bet cave do not want it casually compared to Sine Mora, and by association coming off second class themselves towards investors.

Personally, I ended up voting ibara because I'd really like to play kuro, but I doubt it will practically happen since pink sweets is already out.
