It's out on Japanese app store. 1000 yen is kinda steep. I think I'll wait for it to show up on the US store.

It's out in the US store!
And it's... $11.99? Which is weird since even Taito's official site lists it as $8.99: http://tap.taito.com/en/rayforce.html

It shouldnt, number 1 this should be ok on iphone/touch 4, all the cave shmups run fine and number 2 it only said you may get performance issues if you play on a 3gs. so as i took this info a point of purchase they need to fix it (which i am sure they will)

£7.99? Get a fucking grip Taito. You developed an original iOS shooter from the ground up which didn't cost half this amount. Eight quid for a sluggish port of a 15 year old coin-op? Hahahahahaha.

agreed it is expensive, agreed it shouldnt have been sluggish on release, maybe its fine on ipad 2 and iphone 4s (to be confirmed) but if they charge this amount make sure that the biggest group of people (the standard iphone 4 and touch 4) can actually play the damn thing, is that too much to ask for !!!!

Re: Rayforce is coming to iOS
It must be piss-poor coding simple as, the 3gs handles Cave ports without a hitch yet I'm getting a performance warning for this?
I'm just bemused by it all. Infinity Gene cost three quid, and that was an original title. An XBLA release would weight in at 800 points which is, what, £6.80? Where on earth have they plucked this price from?

Works great on 4S and iPad 2. Control feels a little laggy though. You can't fly around the screen like the Cave adaptations, it requires very small thumb/finger movement. Feels weird.
Worth noting the "original" screen option puts it closer to native res so it actually looks half decent on iPad.

Control lag, oh jeez so when/if they fix the framerate/slow motion on the touch/iphone 4, i hope they fix the control lag.
superpang .. how bad is the control lag ? i have played on small apps on ios for free programmed by some bloke in his bedroom who have got the control near to cave. Are you sure it is running at full speed on ipad 2/4s and the lag isnt to do with it not running at full speed as i turned of wifi etc and it ran better (but still not playable) on my itouch but not up to a smooth 60fps felt about 20-25 fps (better than the 5-10 with wifi on)

Is the control bad on the iPhone Mode, or just the Arcade Mode? Re: the framerate: I sure hope it's not because they're actually emulating the arcade game. If that's the case, it might not be very fixable!

Re: Rayforce is coming to iOS
Damn, sucks to hear its so bad.
I saw it this morning and was gonna download it, but for the price they were asking on it i took a step back and told myself I'd only consider it if they had a demo.
I was really looking forward to it, as my only "ray" experience is raystorm on x360

Found this on another site, seems like control is weird in Arcade mode but not iphone mode
"iPhone mode is exactly the same from what I can tell, but with unrestricted ship speed so you can zip around the screen with ease - This is MUCH easier, and makes me wonder why they actually included arcade mode at all."

I think it's funny that people were expecting anything else from a horrible phone port.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Re: Rayforce is coming to iOS
I would be happy if the game ran as it should at 60 fps. I think you are talking about ios ports in general due to not having a joystick/pad and having a problem with the control methodMathU wrote:I think it's funny that people were expecting anything else from a horrible phone port.

Hmmm I don't notice any control lag at all on my 4s. Plays great although the music is a little off. Loving it so far. Going to install it on my iPad2 next. But yeah I can see where people with big fingers relative to their phones would have a hard time.
This was the very first game I tated a TV for. Absolutely love that I can play it anywhere now in some form.

Re: Rayforce is coming to iOS
iPad 1 running iOS 5.0.1, worked fine no slowdown. I saw someone moaning about the Arcade mode control but you should know that it's like that intentionally. As far as i can tell they made Arcade mode more true to the movement speed of the original, so you can't zip around the screen like a maniac.
Where as the iPhone mode seems like the same game but with speedy control where the ship does a much better job at keeping up with your finger when you move around like a lunatic.
Overall i'd say the iPhone mode was a decent enough experince when played on an iPad using the original screen pixel ratio rather than the default zoomed option.

Hmm, runs ok on iPad 1 . What's the spec differences between iPad 1 and iPhone 4 ?

Re: Rayforce is coming to iOS
The game runs fine on my iPone 4, not lag or framerate issues and has never crashed on my. Im guess you have close all other apps running in the back ground? Maybe delete the app and re-download it??

I think the specs are very similar, but iPhone 4 has twice the RAM.Enemy wrote:Hmm, runs ok on iPad 1 . What's the spec differences between iPad 1 and iPhone 4 ?

Possible that it's only a problem with the iPod touch then ...lettuce wrote:The game runs fine on my iPone 4, not lag or framerate issues and has never crashed on my. Im guess you have close all other apps running in the back ground? Maybe delete the app and re-download it??
